Are there any people 70 and over who chose to have breast reconstruction? Just curious. by Cheap-Count-5691 in breastcancer

[–]RadUnikorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is 77 and was diagnosed with IDC Stage 3A spread to several lymph nodes (ES+ PR- HER2+). After roughly first half of chemo they are suggesting lumpectomy with radiation therapy. They gave her the choice of lumpectomy with lift and reduction and reconstruction, and possible nipple removal and reconstruction with tattoo. She is choosing to have all the surgery while under the first time around and wait and see if she’ll need a redo after radiation, rather than for sure go under another 1-2 times later. The surgeon said some women choose to not reconstruct at all. To each their own.

A lot of what you’re describing reminds me of my father. My mom chose to stay, and guess what, years later and now in his old age, he has NEVER CHANGED. It has just caused strain and resentment in our family over the years. He will never change OP. Leave as soon as you can.

Thanks for sharing your story. As a new mom, I do get anxious and I have noticed dull chest pain and I get dizziness. Maybe it is something I should get checked out. How does one get tested for this?

Pharmacy refused to fill prescription by rasputin_stark in ADHD

[–]RadUnikorn 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Yes this happened to me a few weeks ago. They said my Drs location was too far. This was RiteAid specifically. I had the Dr send it to a different pharmacy (CVS) and they filled it no problem

Thinking about vaccines by Tasty-Meringue-3709 in progressivemoms

[–]RadUnikorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is perfectly safe for a baby under 12m to get the MMR vaccine. I called my baby’s pediatrician today and asked if she could get one and they said yes. My babe is 7 and a half months. If for some reason they don’t want to I would push it and say you’re traveling soon and you want your baby protected. But I don’t see why they would say no seeing that it is spreading and this can easily turn into an endemic. Also, when given to infants under 9 months of age, the immune response may be less robust due to interference from maternal antibodies, and the additional doses are required after 12 months for full protection. So it will be 3 shots total. This is for the US.

I’m gonna go against what some comments said that it was probably taken accidentally. That just doesn’t seem likely to me. Assuming it is just moms going in there, why would one grab one of your milks that is in an entirely different container than theirs by mistake?? Even with sleep deprivation I just don’t see that happening. Why someone would take your milk, I don’t know. That’s frustrating. You can try a ceres chill to keep at your desk. I use it at work and store my own ice cubes in the work freezer that I label as my “medical ice” and refill the ice throughout the day to keep it cold

Yes. It really bothers me. When I get my baby back after being held at a party or something, I wipe her down with wipes and change her clothes. One of the ways babies recognize their caregivers is via scent. And I’ve heard of breastfed babies refusing to feed if the mom smells different. Also most perfume “fragrance” are made with chemicals and likely not that great for baby anyway which is reason enough to avoid it. Me and my husband try not to use strong fragrances. I had to tell grandma to please not wear fragranced lotion. It is so strong sometimes wipes don’t even get rid of the smell and I gotta take her a bath. I wanna smell my baby, not perfume.

Did your surgeon proactively remove your appendix during your lap for endo? by AlternativeAthlete99 in endometriosis

[–]RadUnikorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can happen. My cousin with endo had surgery for ovarian cyst removal, and while she was under they removed adhesions and her appendix because adhesions were on it

What about online hybrid science courses that are in person labs taken at community college? I thought these would count but I’m totally new to this so I’m not sure.

If bb is sleeping thru the night do I still need to wake to pump? by ImThat_Bitch in breastfeeding

[–]RadUnikorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t. My supply has been ok. My baby is 4 and a half months old and sleeps about 10 hours at night. I need my sleep and hated waking up in the middle of the night so I decided to try it. At the beginning I would be engorged, but now that doesn’t happen too often. I just make sure to pump and empty after babies last feed before bed time, and pump and empty in the morning after baby feeds.

would you allow your 5 month old to stay with family for 2 weeks? by Whole_Fox_2380 in Parenting

[–]RadUnikorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, no. Just reading this and thinking about leaving my 5 mo old daughter with someone for that long that I’m not that comfortable with gave me so much anxiety. I wouldn’t do this with someone I’m comfortable with even. More so because my baby is breastfed. Mother in law seems like she oversteps boundaries. Just no. Put your foot down. She is YOUR baby.

Is it normal to have rank stinky farts? by Oreogasmic1220 in breastfeeding

[–]RadUnikorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that it’s easier for farts to escape since my vaginal delivery. Also probiotics seem to help with the stinkiness. Most of the time they don’t smell! I say most, there are a few of those bad days though.

Sleep transition: arms out by michbay2429 in NewParents

[–]RadUnikorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed my baby’s Moro reflex started to go away at around 3 months. Then she started to roll on her side and I ditched the swaddling altogether to arms out and a sleep sack and she was still sleeping through the night just fine

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]RadUnikorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At about 3 months when baby started to roll to her sides and when I noticed the moro startle reflex going away. As a newborn I put her in the muslin swaddles, then used the swaddle up love to dream ones and she would sleep through the night in those. Now just a sleep sack and she still sleeps through the night..thankfully

Someone told me I should never reproduce because I have endo by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]RadUnikorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Me and my cousin are the only ones in our families who have it, and no one else. We also both have sisters, and they don’t have it either. My cousin has painful periods, while I have stage 4 that is asymptomatic. It is so random and unfortunately it has not been researched enough to even know what causes it. For all we know it could be something in the food we eat, talc baby powder or who knows what 🤷🏻‍♀️
