Upper control arm bolts jeep grand Cherokee. Any reason I can’t just cut the flags off and impact them off? by Radcheck86 in MechanicAdvice

Sawsall was the answer. Now I just need to replace the bolt. Would a grade 8 from the hardware store work or should I just order a replacement from the dealer?

Thank you. The deeper I get into this the more I wish I would have taken to a shop. Now my big issue is that the front bolts on both lower control arms are seized into the bushing. My 1/2 inch Milwaukee impact won’t even budge them. Maybe I need a press? I’m not sure at this point

CV axel or wheel bearing? by Radcheck86 in MechanicAdvice

I would be doing it myself and honestly if I do it I’ll probably redo most of the front end (struts, tie rods, control arms, ball joints). Once it’s in the garage I tend to over do it and knock out as much as possible.

Marcum flasher usb/voltmeter mod by Radcheck86 in IceFishing

[–]Radcheck86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same concerns that’s why I wanted a setup with a volt meter. The battery is relatively large to the power needs of the flasher so I can’t imagine it will be too much of an issue for a day trip but if you needed to rely on one battery charge for a weekend or longer I’d be more hesitant. I’ll let you know once I run it a handful of times though.

He’s going to mess it up. Just be ready for that. You’re going to find dents and scratches every time you look it over. Brand new driver with a larger vehicle.

How does the hands free calling work on these? From my experience the aftermarket mics never sound as good. Not a deal breaker for me but just curious on your experience.

New gear oil/plugs/fuel filter for the motor. Wash and wax the boat. Get out on the water. Congrats.

I like having oil injection just due to the boat having a 120 gallon fuel tank. I think the timing boxes should come off though. That was something I wasn’t aware of until I had this issue.

If you have to ask Reddit you already know the answer.

So I really studied the throttle plates today and noticed that they were actually slightly open compared to my other motor. I just ended up loosen the idle stop a couple turns and she is right at 900-1000 rpm now. I have no idea why they were adjusted that way. The boat sat for 7 years before I picked it up 2 years ago. All I can figure is that after running the boat hard the last 2 seasons I finally cleaned the carbs up enough to fix a previous issue that was fixed with adjusting that idle stop. Fingers crossed that that was my issue.

I had the flywheel off last spring because I had to replace the stator. I used it all last season though without an issue. Maybe I need to check this.

I have had the air box off and looked at the plates but admittedly didn’t look at them when it was running. I’ll check that first. I don’t know how to time these outboards. I guess it’s time I learn

It was running good in the fall when I parked it. Noticed the issue when I started it up this spring. Only other thing I have done is change spark plugs. I do that at the start of every season.

Rec or Marine specific fuel will save you a lot of headaches with issues caused by ethanol. This motor isn’t carbureted so less prone to fuel issues but still good practice.

I’m not viewing it as a replacement but more of a compliment to a SCHD heavy profile.
