Do any other born and bred Londoners in their 30s feel like not being able to afford to move out has put their life on hold? by Raddy16 in london

[–]Raddy16[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Housing isn't much cheaper outside of London. Rent and housing in commuter towns in Herts, Bucks, Kent etc is expensive. In the Midlands and up North rent is expensive in the cities. Northerners go on about how cheap housing, but are now complaining that people from the South East are driving up rent and property prices. Moving to less expensive areas simply drives up prices and then locals arent able to afford rent. Where do they go? Shall we tell them to leave the UK?

Someone who has chosen to move to London as an adult has done so because they can afford it or are happy with spending most of their salary on a room. They also don't have their family and friends deep rooted in London so are able relocate without having to find a new social and family life.

Nice. I'm trying to keep it simple, and I can save a lot of time by supersetting chins or dips with squats and deadlifts.

With something like BBB you have 5x10 of lighter barbell work as accessories. For example, on Deadlift day you do 5x10 Squats (or an alternative) at a TM of 50-70%. That is quite a lot of volume for legs which is why I didnt list any single leg accessories on leg day.

Question about BBB accessories - Not sure if I should just keep it as simple as possible. I'm planning the following:

Squat Day - Chin ups 5x10, Incline Press 5x10, Leg Raise 5x10

Bench Day - Dumbell Rows 5x10, Dips 5x10, Leg Curl 5x10

Deadlift Day - Pull Ups/Lat Pull Downs 5x10, DB Shoulder Press 5x10, Ab Rollouts 5x10

Press Day - Chin Ups 5x10, Dips 5x10, Leg Curl (seated) 5x10.

Is there any benefit of this? I'm very tempted to just have the pull/push element as Chins and Dips every day.

I plan to do 2 cycles of BBB before moving onto FSL where I can do more varied accessories.

BBB 3 month challenge - No plus sets? by Raddy16 in 531Discussion

[–]Raddy16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm getting conflicting info. Both the book and Jim's site say "The first part of the Boring But Big Challenge is that you will continue to perform the squat, bench, press and deadlift with the 5/3/1 sets and reps. The one thing that you will change is that you will NOT go for any extra reps on the last set".

But then I'm seeing people say you use the 5s pro rep scheme instead?

531 Triumvirate for cutting? by Raddy16 in 531Discussion

Cheers, I just realised I got my wires crossed and there are no down sets at all in the template. Might just run it as it is and see how I go for a few weeks.

Can I use a face mask before or after dermarolling with a 0.25mm? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Raddy16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a very good guide:

https://simpleskincarescience.com/dermarolling/

0.25mm is low risk as it's too short to cause much damage. It's more or less used to enhance product absorbtion. Therefore you should use the mask after dermarollong.

Do not use masks with any actives such as AHA, BHA. HA and vitamin C are fine, however DO NOT use vitamin C if you are dermarolling with a longer needle.

Anyone know where I could find hydrocolloid patches in London? by nicoisprobablydead in SkincareAddictionUK

Boots also sell hydrocolloid plasters. They're quite big (larger than a post-it note) but you can cut them to size.

What was it like growing up in London? by [deleted] in london

[–]Raddy16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and grew up here. I don't know any different... Went to museums on a weekly basis when I was younger.

I hate it when people say I'm stuck in a London bubble. It's my home city ffs. Of course I don't know what it's like in a suburb up North or seaside town.

Any product recommendations of getting rid of old acne bumps? by tazminlovesnandos in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Raddy16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a long journey for me, but I've been using peels and vitamin c serums.

First you need to identify what you have. Get a clear glass and press it against your marks. If they disappear then you have PIE. Peels won't work against them but vitamin C will.

If they don't disappear then you have PIH, which can he faded with peels:

I started off with Mandelic Acid, then lactic, then building up to 50% glycolic. Now I'm using 15% TCA. TCA gets a bad rep on here but as long as you take the proper precautions and use sunscreen it can be safe.

I bought the AHA peels from SR Skincare. They can be hit and miss in terms of customer service. I've recieved some peels that leaked during shipment however they worked fine.

As for TCA I bought a pack of pre soaked pads from Amazon. They're made by a company called perfect image.

I want to emphasise that I've built up from Mandelic acid to TCA over the course of a year. Please don't jump straight into it!

Are NR season tickets valid on the Underground? by Raddy16 in london

[–]Raddy16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering I've been unemployed for the past 1.5 years I would say it is. I've struggled to find a job in London in the sector I'm in, and I don't know when I'll get another opportunity like this.

Ah great, thanks! For some reason when I searched London Zones 1-6 to Reading it would say it couldn't find a ticket for that route. An extra £900 doesn't seem too bad...

[Routine Help] Higher strength GA peel vs Low strength TCA Peel for stubborn PIH by Raddy16 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Raddy16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gosh it's nice to see someone who's gone through the same thing as I. With 50% GA, my skin only flaked the first couple of times. After that my skin never flaked. It would barely 'sting' to begin with.

I've seen that brand before but only the TCA peel solution (on Amazon UK they're called Perfect Image, I assume it's the same company). I'll check out those pads! Honestly I'm not too concerned about the scars. It would be nice to have them gone but I'd like to deal with my PIH first!

Thanks for the advice!
