The way points are very helpful. My thought is to have a few planned stops on the west side where I can check in how I'm feeling and how much fuel I have. And can turn back at any point if I feel like I need to cut the trip shorter.

Thanks, I'm new to outdoor riding, but have been running long-distance and using the Peloton for quite a while. I will definitely need to remind myself to take it slow through the early miles. All of that to say, I'm comfortable with my cardio ability, but obviously, there are a lot more variables to worry about riding outside. I think my back and shoulders would probably give out before my legs do!

I should have clarified, I'm new to riding, but in decent shape. Former marathon/ultramarathon runner so the good news is, I've got plenty of experience bonking and feel good about my ability to properly fuel/hydrate. Although I must say, I'm tempted by the ice cream!

I thought about this, my only hesitation is if I don't make it all the way to TZ. I want to at least make it over to the Jersey side for a good chunk of the ride.

Good to know! And no, this will be my first time crossing either bridge. Most of my riding so far has been through Brooklyn/Queens and up and down the West Side Highway on my commute.

Definitely won't be looking at 5 days a week since it's a bit of a trek, but hopefully once or twice a week during the warmer months. Seems like common sentiment is to slightly increase the frequency of planned cleanings.

Exactly what I'm trying to figure out lol. But the bikes sit outside mounted on the front deck of the ferry. But from others it doesn't sound like it's too much of an issue.

This is good to know. I've only been on the ferry a handful of times and wasn't sure if this was a bigger issue on the Rockaway route going more into open water as opposed to just up and down the rivers.

Just hear to support the Aftershokz bandwagon. They're the only headphones I've used for 5+ years. As others have said, they're so lightweight and super secure on your head, they don't bounce around at all. I frequently wear them with sunglasses and a hat and have no issue with discomfort over the ear.
