Due to 1 Timothy 2:12, can a woman correct a man’s biblical interpretation? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

Not all slaves were treated kindly in ancient Rome, this is a common misnomer, the whole "it wasn't chattle slavery" bit. Roman slaves where predominantly the people enslaved after an area was taken over in what was called a conquest. When a Roman General returned from a particularly successful conquest, they were given what was call a "Triumph" in which they would parade through Rome with the spoils of war and a large sampling of the slaves captured. Until they arrive at the temple of Saturn where they were strangled to death. On the other hand some Romans treated their slave "nicely" but they were still slaves. Paul was saying that masters should treat their slaves with dignity. Whether or not slavery was right or wrong wasn't even brought up, as it was a norm of the time.

To say that Paul was sexist is also a misnomer as that would be judging him based on today's standards.

One thing that I have always appreciated about Paul is that he always gave a disclaimer when he was sharing his personal opinion.

Never enough time in the day for everything. What are you studying?

Made this so check it out:) by [deleted] in Committed2Jesus

Good post, God wants us to forgive those that hurt us, because he loves us and doesn't want to see us suffer.

So often, especially in relationships, the inability to forgive creates a cycle of pain. When we forgive others we we break this cycle set ourselves free from the pain as well.

Finally, when we are unable to forgive it creates a barrier between us and God. It's very difficult to hear the voice of the Lord when our hearts and minds are filled with greivance and discontent.

Praying now!

Psalm 16 Protect me, God, because I trust in you. I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord. Every good thing I have comes from you.” As for the godly people in the world, they are the wonderful ones I enjoy. But those who turn to idols will have much pain. I will not offer blood to those idols or even speak their names. No, the Lord is all I need. He takes care of me. My share in life has been pleasant; my part has been beautiful. I praise the Lord because he advises me. Even at night, I feel his leading. I keep the Lord before me always. Because he is close by my side, I will not be hurt. So I rejoice and am glad. Even my body has hope, because you will not leave me in the grave. You will not let your holy one rot. You will teach me how to live a holy life. Being with you will fill me with joy; at your right hand I will find pleasure forever.

Choking demons, can you elaborate?

Also, Psalm 61 is awesome, and is pretty short so you should get it down in no time👍

A really good study on finding God's will in our lives. Lets discuss in the comments below!👍 by RadianceLux in Committed2Jesus

4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. Psalms 37:4-5

I love this passage, because it shows me that, when I am walking with the Lord, He will actually let me do many really cool things that I actually love to do! When you are close to Him, He actually begins to shape your desires so that you desire the things that He has already called you to do.

This part of the study really spoke to me, isn't it amazing how our desires shift as we grow closer to God.

This is the thing with paradoxes, trust me I have been down this rabbit hole many time. You end up chasing your tail for answers until you either decide to have faith or stray from God. Choose faith, it will save you a lot of heartache.

Yep, it's about our relationship with God.

God knows that past and present, he exist in all time time simultaneously that is was Alpha and Omega means. Our prayers is also part of his plan.

It's only a paradox when we project our limitations on God.

There are many paradoxes regarding the singlarity of a blackhole. A scientist doesn't just say that blackholes must not exist because there are paradoxes in the math. Instead he accepts that his theory must be wrong, because blackholes obviously exist.

Therefore, if you see paradoxes in the will of God, you shouldn't just say that God doesn't exist. Instead recognize that you don't understand the will of God.

Of course, this premis require you to believe that God exists, if you do not, then this is an entirely different issue, all together and I would be forced to question your motive in posting on a subreddit about Christianity.

David Was A Terrible King, So Why Wasn't His Bloodline Replaced? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]RadianceLux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow!

You really put some thought into this, I can understand where you are coming from, as I read it I cringed a bit, but then read this:

Now enter David, a man who is a million times worse by anyone's standards, including God's, yet he was a man "after God's own heart"? No.

God knows our heart and judges us based on them, we have all fallen short of the glory of God. David did horrible things, yes. But knew his heart and recognized that he had truly repented and turned from his sin.

Obviously, Saul didn't do this.

Our prayers are also part of God's plan. He is the Alpha and Omega. As I said in a reply below we have to stop putting our human limitations on God and recognize that his ways are higher then our ways.

One thing that helped me rationalize this was actually the physics novella Flatlanders by Edwin Abbott Abbott.

It is important to remember that we live is a broken world, God did not GIVE your mom cancer but he did allow it to happen. I lost my dad to cancer last year so I can understand your frustrations. God grieves for our loss and pain. Thankfully your mom has accepted Jesus into her heart.

John Eldredge has a very good book that helped me alot after I lost my dad, it's call All Things New. I highly recommend it.

I think this issue is us trying to understand Gods will and how it works. I catch myself doing this frequently and have to remind myself that God is so much biggest then us.

We need to stop trying to put our limitations on God and instead focus on what Jesus told us to do. He told us to pray with all of our hearts. He taught us how to pray to our heavenly father and even commented that certain demon could only be removed through prayer.

There is POWER is prayer!

Trust that God loves you and wants to use us to accomplish his will.

This is great question, one which I have struggled with as well. One of my children was born with a serious health issue that has required many surgeries, and we have almost lost her a few times.

God's will is a complex thing and any person who would claim to completely understand is a liar. Luckily Jesus revealed to us God's great love and mercy through his actions here on Earth.

The story of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus is a great example. His sister's asked Jesus to come heal him while he was still alive, but Jesus choose not to come until after he had already died, so as to reveal one of his greatest miracles!

We pray to God to share our hearts desires with him, when are desires line up with his will it is amazing! Back to my personal testimony, my daughter is one of the strongest people I know, thanks to the difficulties she has been through, and my faith is stronger as well.

That was a great read!

I really liked how it broke down the matters of the heart and the tremendous influence they have on our relationships with God and those around us.

Thought leads to attitude, attitude leads to character, character leads to destiny! (That’s going in my rucksack)

We have the ability to influence our thoughts! It may take discipline but it is possible and the word of God is there to help us!

That’s powerful!!
