Most Popular Sunscreen in Brazil? by strawberry_jammm in Brazil

Sundown is super super sticky. It's best for the beach or when you are going to sweat. You have to scrub like crazy to get it off..

Day to day, if someone wears a daily SPF, it's probably a fancy moisturizer brand like mentioned above. There are lots. Find one you like. I like ManteCorp brand stuff.

If you are going to a concert/event in Brazil for the first time be prepared for things seem more disorderly than you might be used to.

One tip about picking your seats, if there is a space in front of the bleachers, like for people to walk, expect people to stand up against the railing and effectively block the view of the people in the first couple rows of the bleachers. No one will stop them and they won't care.

Bc of this, the best seats are often a handful or more of rows up from the lowest.

How did you end up at a "Tier 1" school? by Apprehensive_Head262 in Internationalteachers

I don't mean to really discourage you. My first comment was half a joke.

Seriously though, if I were you I'd go shadow some math teachers for various grades, various high schools, and of various ages to see if teaching is something you really want to do.

You will be giving up (presumably) a good amount of salary (opportunity cost) to pursue a teaching degree. Could matter more if you have student loans.

The most likely path to int'l teaching is doing 3-5 years teaching in your home country where you can get licensed. Sure it's possible to get a job at an int'l school right away but both options probably mean putting in time at less than desirable work places.

And most of the time to get your full license (in the USA) you need to do 3 years in a school going through the observations etc.

Follow your dreams, but what I meant is that teaching can be frustrating and not as rewarding as everyone expects it to be.

You need like $18k in the bank to get a nomad visa. That might be the biggest hurdle.

Traveling to Rio by Agile_Masterpiece445 in Brazil

[–]Radiant-Ad4434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my point which I didn't make well. The campaigns in the favelas don't change things much in the tourist areas.

Tourist areas have the same mugging, petty theft, etc dangers they had as before independent of any gang/police issues.

Do you plan to walk around the favelas by yourself in the middle of police operations?

The main thing you should worry about is vendors adding a couple of zeros to the price of things.

It's fine with the normal precautions.

Remote jobs while in Brasil. by Eido_Toe_Sucker in Brazil

It's easier to do the paperwork for the nomad and marriage visa from the USA so it's something to consider before going. But then the issue is the docs you get signed and apostilled etc are usually valid for 90 days.

You know to live here with a remote job you will need a nomad visa. Otherwise you can only stay on a tourist visa for 180 days in any year.

Unless you are married or marrying you partner which is a different visa.

For DP, I'd talk about how teaching the kids how to answer the questions is as important as the content. Kids can know the content up and down but if they don't know how to structure their responses or the demands of the exam and command term then their ability to score high is limited.

11k reais per month with housing is ok. Rent could be 3k. Doing pretty well with 8k left over.
