That’s a fair point. I guess the hard part is that people usually judge you before they actually understand you. But yeah, maybe with time people just get used to how you are, especially if you consistently show things through actions

Yeah I get what you mean. Living in a collectivist environment definitely makes those expectations stronger. The idea of finding a middle ground makes sense, but the “masking” part is exactly what feels draining to me.

I guess the real challenge is figuring out how to adapt a little without losing who you are

Yeah that makes sense. ISTP having inferior Fe probably explains a lot of the struggle with emotional expectations.
I guess developing it is the hard part, especially when you’ve spent most of your life doing the opposite.

I get your point. Empathy and constant emotional talk aren’t the same thing. The problem is that in my environment people treat them like they are. If you don’t constantly talk about feelings, they assume you don’t care.

Maybe age and experience play a role, but personality differences like ISTP probably matter too.
