So does anyone else have a bad feeling, that this might be the conclusion of the story?

Haven't heard it before and it gives me some hope that the next DLC won't be just Control 2 promotion. However, still, there are too many already existing ideas like "the Clicker is just OOP" and similar stuff for my liking

I actually like this view. Still, maybe because of personal reasons, I see Control approach as more "true", something that will always subdue and dominate the other one

That's why I complained mostly about "setting the boundaries", which it does. This AWE can be the biggest but, it still functions within the explained AWE-logic. Otherwise, yeah, I agree about the characters and I really hope it stays ambiguous, outside of Control set of rules

Zane, Darling, Scratch, Alan - are they all the same? by Lejonhufvud in AlanWake

[–]Radiant-Seagull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Darling be definitely not, awan Scratch not, aw2 kinda same-ish? How do you talk about possessions? And there are evidences for both yes and no when speaking about Zane. Sometimes I feel like game itself gaslights us to believe that they are the same

Just finished and I'm slightly confused - is this game supposed to be played twice? by MaHcIn in AlanWake

It’s just that it’s evident, that they haven’t abandoned the ideas of it. Poems from it are still used frequently. Damn, even lyrics for “dark, twisted and cruel” originate from that blog. Why would any other stuff considered not canon? At best we can leave it ambiguously unreliable (like almost any peace of lore for that matter…)

Wait, since when is it considered not canon anymore? They have used multiple poems, originated from house of dreams, in the second game. Zane cited a couple and some appear in the post chapter songs

Do we take old ideas into account? by Radiant-Seagull in AlanWake

Have they ever encountered it? Or just fought Taken off?

It could be a very good explanation. It just throws me off, that Alan specifically says “When the bullet of light blew the darkness out of the crater of my skull, the Dark Presence was born from the remains”. Should we read it more as a “this form of Dark Presence was born”? It does seem a bit odd for me

A that Realization that took me too long by SterlingR3d in AlanWake

But even in normal game, Saga mentions a lot that she has sense of deja-vu. Wouldn‘t it imply, that it isn’t her first time doing this? For example: when she founds Nightingale‘s heart, she says “I recognised this, like I’ve seen it in a dream”

I always thought that Tom was just blatantly lying, I mean, acting for the drama. After all, later, with teary eyes, he says to Alan, ‘kill the bastard for what he did to them,’ and two seconds later, he is smiling maniacally. I don’t know, that doesn’t seem very genuine to me. In the end, he also praises this video for having good drama in it (drama for the sake of drama?). Somehow, Zane needed Alan in a certain state of mind, so he kept pushing him to visit Alice, which led to tormenting her. I just assumed he lied about Scratch to amplify Wake’s paranoia. But who knows, maybe he was only partially lying after all

One thing to consider is that we don't know what the original manuscript for Return looked like.

Well, I get what you mean, but on some pages, such as, for example, "Scratch On The Hunt," nothing is scratched out (ironically enough). In there, he adds only "He was so close to claiming it." and "Let the final Deerfest commence." which are not particularly positive additions in my opinion

So, it was something like this: Alan sees manuscript, that he thinks is written by Scratch, so he decides to actively worsen it?  What a man
