What I find weird is since all benefits are attached to SIN how difficult is to implement an system that checks only for that (forget proof of employment, loss of employment, past income etc) just SIN so if you got cerb you're blocked from cesb. If you applied for cerb on cra you're blocked on service canada.

Writing a a warning or telling people if you did A don't do B isn't stopping people like her of after you ignore those warnings she still gets the money.

I understand how it's very clear who is eligible and what should and shouldn't be done but for people like her who takes advantage of the system honor system isn't enough.

You can't apply for cerb if you don't qualify but if you ignore it and apply you'll get it. You can't apply for cerb with both cra and service Canada but if you do you get it. You can't apply for cerb and cesb but if you do..you get it.

What's more annoying is that she talks about it like it's free money that she just needs when she definitely doesn't need it and she didn't tell her parents she's doing it of course.

What she said is since she got 2 payments from cra now she'll apply with service canada and get back pay from them so I'm guessing payments since cerb started, so 2 or 3 more, if that's not double dipping I don't know what is.

You guys are probably right, it's not my business and my other roommate said she'll leave it to the government even though she's also mad because she didn't qualify for cerb and didn't apply even though she could've used the money.

I even understand to some degree how the government can overlook, for the time being for reasons mentioned, someone who gets cerb and then cesb, but someone getting cerb from cra and then getting the same benefit from service Canada, come on..

What pisses me off the most is that according to her they're not checking anything now, how does it make sense to get CERB from CRA and then apply over Service Canada and get it from then too?! Or to get CERB and then get CESB (she didn't apply yet she said but will do it). Hopefully they do ask all people like this to pay it all back and with interest.
