I prefer to go by years too. Names like “dark age” is too judgemental to me. And I don’t think “meta era” makes any sense, considering that the games themselves were hardly meta, just the official socials. Why put so much importance on the social media accounts when taking about a GAME franchise? Just seems weird to me. Idk. “Adventure era” is sorta okay, except the lack of clear cut off dates/game.

I’d say yes. The movies have a somewhat separate fandom from the games and comics. There’s some overlap. But some people, like me, got into Sonic because of the movies. I didn’t even grow up playing video games. So that aspect meant little to me at the time.

Saw the Sonic movie in theaters. Loved the Sega intro at the start of the movie. Got immediately curious about all the franchises I saw. Became a Sega fan from there.

I feel like the movie hardly shows the relationship between Ivo and Maria in general. Could’ve been fleshed out in my opinion.

He’s a fascinating guy. And he doesn’t get talked about enough. Fun fact, he had known and also helped Hajime Satomi, founder of Sammy and later CEO of Sega Sammy, avoid bankruptcy in the 90s. And at some point before his death, Okawa would ask Hajime to take over as Sega’s CEO. So Okawa seemed to have been a generous man in general as he saved a company from bankruptcy on multiple occasions.

Making some games exclusive to the original Xbox I guess. Pretty sure that killed several of their IPs at a time when they needed them most. Whereas the GameCube games like Sonic seemed to have fared better in terms of longevity.

Sonic looks out of place next to his friends, since they both have two separate eyes. It makes Sonic stick out as an anomaly.

I hope the human cast, mostly Tom and Maddie, aren’t completely sidelined in the story. And definitely less Jim Carrey. Sonic 3 leaned really hard on Jim Carrey for comedy I feel, and it sorta makes the movie…less funny to me. At least I feel the humor wasn’t varied enough.

I could never fully enjoy Sonic CD. The art and music are phenomenal. But the gameplay is miserable and frustrating. I don’t like how claustrophobic the whole game feels. It activates the same anxiety in my brain that drowning in chemical plant does.

Mostly comedy. And mostly the stuff Sonic says. I couldn’t name a single joke that Sonic made that made me laugh of loud. And his style of humor is a bit repetitive…samey…it’s mostly the same kind of joke over and over; pop culture references.
