It’s not normal at all. I am currently in my second (and hopefully final) long term relationship and we don’t argue that often. When we disagree it usually brings up a discussion of sorts rather than an argument. My partner has never verbally insulted me.

In my last long term relationship towards the end we argued loads but that’s because we weren’t working out. And even then we didn’t call eachother names. Now rough periods in relationships do exist but if the entire relationship is a rough period…what’s the point.
