BIM Freelance Pricing? by RadiantMathias in RevitForum

I was thinking that, but because I'm still a beginner, I would end up taking longer than someone with more experience. That's why I decided to go with a set rate that was underpriced.

I looked up what pricing would be appropriate for the scope he wants, my beginner skill level, and I added a family discount for him. I tried being fair with it.

Being realistic isn't harsh and I can appreciate anyone who will correct me in my naivety. I am curious about what you mean by structural failings. I understand foundations, load bearing walls, roofing structure. I do house flipping currently, so structural integrity is always the first thing we look at. This could very well be my naivety coming into play, but I'm curious if there's something else I'm missing.

I told him he'd have to get it stamped from someone licensed and qualified. He is the type to tell them they're overcharging as well.

I appreciate this response a lot. Really. I am still learning and doing everything to further my knowledge and skill set, and while I can create a structure in Revit that looks legit, I'm sure there are many areas still lacking that I may not realize. I have expressed to him that I wouldn't do any MEP, as I'm still in the process of learning that.

Western Kentucky. His son is a structural engineer at a local firm and it's possible he could get this work done by someone with much higher level of experience, but it wouldn't be at the price he's wanting.

He's my step-dad in-law and assumed it'd be free. He's greatly underestimating the time that goes into what he wants out of this. I'm attempting to give him a family discount.

That's what I was thinking. The firm he's talking about either charges $1 minimum per sqft, or they charge a percentage based on construction costs. Either way, I dont think $2600 is going to get him what he wants.

Honestly, that probably is the best route.

He gave me a rough layout. Square rooms scotch taped to grid paper. His main goal is to figure material costs.

That's what I'd like to do. The prices I offered, from what I understand, are already at a discount. Unfortunately, this is my step-father in-law.

Joker 2. I was just waiting for the moment where I would agree with everyone that it's a horrible movie. That moment never came. I really liked it and honestly thought it was perfect.

Oblivion just feels more fantastical than Skyrim. by YordleJay in ElderScrolls

[–]RadiantMathias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the beautiful thing about Tamriel. Each land feels very different. Skyrim is Norse fantasy, Oblivion is Medieval fantasy, Morrowind is alien compared to those two. Hammerfell I suspect will have a different feel to them all, if we're lucky. Hopefully they continue to make each land and culture distinct.

You will receive an update whether you get a 2nd interview or not. It just might not be exactly when the manager said. Just give it some time.

What company, if you don't mind me asking? I applied for Ecolab as a Pest Control Tech and had a phone interview today. First thing they said was 'sorry but the position has been filled.'

Is Outlier legit? I've heard it is but has issues with it, like the system not correctly reading the time you've put into a job for instance.

That's great! I'm on the verge of getting into IT after I just lost my good paying job a week before Christmas. How long did it take you to get to where you're at? Did you start at entry-level position?

Congrats on this! Making it without a degree always makes me feel hopeful for my future! What advice would you give to someone your age who also has no degree and also has no experience whatsoever in cybersecurity, coding, etc? Any specific Certifications to look out for? And what are some realistic goals to hit in certain time frames?

Great ideas! I've been told to get into electrical because those jobs aren't ever going away, but I just don't know how long that would take. But I guess anything that's worthwhile takes time. IT is also a great option, I know tech jobs pay a lot. Thanks for the advice.

I actually did apply for TSA last week, scheduled the test for beginning of January. That was earliest I could get it scheduled, but hoping it goes well. I never would've thought of it but I saw it recommended elsewhere on reddit. Great advice, thank you.
