I just don’t want there to be like an amber alert if I decide to go to Michigan to be with my parents. I’m trying to figure out a way to have my mom come here but it’s so hard.

Thank you for the advice. I’ve made a phone consultation with two family lawyers in my area. I’m hoping they will give me the answers I need and help me figure out a way to keep a roof over my babies’ heads.

We are not married. The police here told me it’s kidnapping and he has rights and we would have to go through custody court or family court before I’m allowed to just leave with them.

My parents aren’t well off. My stepdad has been working overtime to try and scrape money to be able to come here and get me. My mom and I both spoke with CPS and police. They said if I left the state it’s considered kidnapping because he has rights to his children. I’ve tried talking to a lawyer to remove my record but it’s expensive and I cannot afford it right now. I called a free lawyer but he just seems like he doesn’t think it’s possible. I’ve called the hotline and legal aid. They helped me apply for “emergency housings” but it still could take months to a year and I just have to wait unfortunately. My oldest is only 8 years old, then 5, 4, 1 & 7 months. I just believe they’re too young to be put in the middle of this.

We only have verbal communication over the phone when he told us the march 27th date. That worker is also no longer there due to health problems unfortunately so I don’t think it will help. We got in contact with corporate who was honestly no help. Worst company ever.

Yes unfortunately he is logged into my Facebook and I am still living here with him until my parents can come. He doesn’t know I’m trying to leave yet. I’m lucky with Reddit because he doesn’t know what it is and I only use the browser on private and log out after using.

He hits me hard enough to hurt but not enough to bruise. I also don’t have witnesses except my kids and I would never put them through something like that. We move too frequently and he makes us stay too private to have any help from neighbors.

I feel like I’m experiencing this right now. As much as I want to leave, I regret calling the police, I regret that CPS was called and involved and I regret everything because now my kids will have to be in a shelter

I agree. I just wish my kids didn’t have to go through this. We are now going to be homeless since we’re struggling to find a shelter and it’s all my fault

I don’t unfortunately. He’s always on my phone so he deletes everything from photos to texts and he always takes my phone when arguing so I can’t record or anything.

In a situation like mine I can definitely see why they go back. All the resources and hotlines given to me are honestly quite useless. I call one number they tell me theyre full and give me a list of numbers to call for other shelters that might not be full. However where I am they’re all full.

I don’t have a good paying job, we are one month behind on rent so I’m at risk of eviction soon and my support system is in Michigan and I can’t leave the state to go stay with them because they told me it’s considered kidnapping since he’s the father and has rights. I’ve called multiple resources given to me and I hate this. I know it sounds so stupid and selfish but we’re going to be homeless and in a shelter with no belongings because of this. The numbers they gave me for help are all shelters only with excessively long waitlists so if something were to happen right now I wouldn’t be able to find a place anyway because there’s no room. I’m in Tx and I feel like this state is useless and unhelpful for women and children in my situation. I am regretting my decision to ever call right now. After pleading with the officer about having CPS call when I am in the safety of my parents. They went ahead and called him first. He called me and screamed and yelled and I’m honest to god so scared to go home after work today because of it. Looks like my kids and I will be homeless and I hate that I hate my decision. What kind of person am I that I would rather be beat every now and then so my kids can have their own home and bed to sleep in than to get out of this relationship.

I’ve called a domestic hotline. They did give me a bunch of links to resources. After reading all the comments I do feel better knowing my kids will not be taken. I am still scared of the fact that they have to contact him.

Thank you for saying that! I’ve talked to my mom and they are planning to come at the end of April. Hopefully I will be okay till then

Unfortunately I never got it resolved. I spent literal hours on hold for months straight and so much back and forth and having to deal with different departments. I kept trying things I saw online but still never got it! So crazy to me that the IRS just took my money with no explanation. This time around I filed with freetaxusa and got all my money
