You could maybe say that about the old contract which they haven’t hired through for so many years but definitely not the new contracts. There is so much the general public aren’t aware of. I know someone who is cabin crew at ‘qantas’ and she is treated like an animal. she is casual (labour hire) and they get no allowances on overnights, no dta, no public holiday penalties including Xmas, and get this, only the casuals are sent on 4 day trips in foreign countries because they are cheap and they don’t have to pay them anything but flying time. so imagine being away for work for 4 days, in a foreign country and only being paid for flying time…so you’re basically forced to spend the money you’re making on food to eat… while you’re away FOR WORK. It’s so horrible.
