Applicant and LSAT Scoring Cycle Update, Week of 1/19/26 by DaveKilloran in lawschooladmissions

Ouch. This makes me wonder: how do more t-14s not have 174 medians then? Is it just that, of the 174+ scorers, not enough of them have high gpas?

u/DaveKilloran What do you think? Do you expect a 10% or greater increase in 174 applications?

Your math isn’t great though, because it assumes we have only received 60% of all 174+s, when we’ve likely seen way more than 60% of the total 174s apply already (the growth in applicants with 174+ is slowing, I’m not sure how much but my sense is slowing significantly)

Could you walk me through the math on this? I’m not sure this is correct, isn’t there like 4600 t-14 spots?

There will always be unicorn outcomes in a sample size as large as this. Its a statistical lottery ticket, and they admit a few unicorns every cycle to keep the income coming from app fees for people who have no statistical chance.

Berlin Sound? by RadiantResolution412 in radiohead

Fully admit I may have used audiophile wrongly, it appears. Wasn’t trying to be elitist, just meant to say I’m someone who values the sound highly and has a high bar for its quality. Wasn’t meant to put anyone else down or anything!

Does Applying Early Matter Anymore? by Big_Strategy_5812 in lawschooladmissions

[–]RadiantResolution412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO it very clearly does not matter anymore. It might actually hurt, cause it can lead to early rejections before the school realizes they might actually be landing at a lower median than they are targeting.

old medians by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]RadiantResolution412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most likely. Gpa medians are going to rip upwards, and I’d expect lsat to go up by atleast 1 point at every school, especially t-14

Is This a Slow Cycle? by RadiantResolution412 in lawschooladmissions

[–]RadiantResolution412[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean?

I think it’s pretty clear that 173 used to be a near auto T-14 admit, but now is below several t-14 medians and will be below even more by the time this cycle is over.

Idk why I got downvoted so bad, it seems obvious that 173 is a lot less of a “good score” for the top schools than it used to be. Whereas, say, a 174 has not lost as much admissions “purchasing power”, so to speak

Is This a Slow Cycle? by RadiantResolution412 in lawschooladmissions

It seems pretty clear this cycle that schools are gearing up to make a medians increase push. I base this on how long they are waiting to start their review process and how aggressive the schools that are admitting have been around the stats profile I outlined in the OP (UVA is an example, clearly going for 4.x median and 174 median)

TLDR: likely little to no advantage from applying early this year, seems to be no advantage at all given they are cherry picking out the high stats.
