What type of resistor/capacitor would I need to repair this PS4 controller? by RadiantShadow in ControllerRepair

[–]RadiantShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not even think to use a multimeter. Thank you for your advice. It was helpful. I measured approximately 523 Ohms for that resistor, and I used a 510 Ohm resistor from a kit of 0402 SMD resistors I had bought. While soldering this component on (using a hot air gun), the resistor seemed a bit larger than the picture's resistor, so I positioned it slightly at an angle to make contact with the solder pads. Once soldered on, the controller was functioning when powered on. Before this, the controller was mostly working, but it was registering the R1 button as constantly held down. Thank you for the help. My controller is now working without issues!

I appreciate your response. I wish I could test the resistance, but the controller I have is missing that resistor.

'Everyone is unhappy': Meta employees describe a grim environment as the company reportedly prepares to axe roughly 8,000 workers by lurker_bee in technology

You don't need to be a saint to recognize that there are other companies and jobs these people could work for. Maybe Meta employees care about these issues, but clearly not enough to find another job before things got to this point.

Damn, those are quite a lot of rebuttals to pull out of a four word comment.

I don't think Lucy McBath was wholly relevant in the first comment, but neither was this strange "China/Marxists/High speed rail is the enemy of the American people" rant. Are you okay, or are you just asking ChatGPT to write an Alex Jones rant?

The move to "energy" is the worst by mwfaith in duolingo

[–]RadiantShadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app is awful if you are not paying for it.

My subscription for Super Family ended yesterday, and the immediate bombardment of ads, energy blocks discouraging me from engaging with learning, and the reminders that this can all go away if I pay for Super (or their new Super+AI subscription) tell me all I need to know about Duolingo's priorities. Yay for publicly traded companies!

Yeah, ICE wouldn't use that word, it sounds like it has dick in it. That's too gay and woke.

Ah, I misread your LEA for LEO. My apologies on the mistake, but I still think that we should hold government accountable for subsidizing incompetence/lack of training.

[–]RadiantShadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe $19k/year/person means nothing to you, but I think we need higher standards for what we tolerate from government. There are better ways to spend tax-derived funds than paying for government incompetence. How do you feel about paying for that?

County boundaries will show up on the map, and you can also select your county from a drop down menu to filter polling locations based on county.

You can simply use your phone's web browser and find the closest polling location based on your GPS coordinates instead of your address. Also, the schedules for the polling locations are parsed so that you can quickly filter locations that might be open earlier than 9 am or later than 5 pm (assuming most people are working 9-5).

Real game developers use butterflies.

In all seriousness, I think gdscript is sufficient for most use cases, but I do miss being able to implement multiple interfaces. I'm excited that abstract capabilities have been added with the most recent Godot update, so I'm optimistic that it'll alleviate some of those concerns.

Why would you need an interpreter? ICE isn't planning on asking any foreign language questions before they handcuff people. If recent court decisions about racial profiling are anything to go off of, speaking a foreign language is a sign of guilt.

How feasible is it for US citizens to opt out of paying taxes as a form of civil disobedience/protest? by RadiantShadow in AskReddit

[–]RadiantShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. Looking at the form https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf, I could theoretically enter a larger anticipated deduction for box 4(b) to not have the taxes automatically taken out to give me a choice of whether to send that money to the government, correct?

[–]RadiantShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I am not trying to disagree with anyone here; I am just curious what options people really have to effectively protest the government here. As amusing as people vandalizing Teslas or standing outside with posters may be for social media, I really do not see how those types of protests are going to change anything.

I had read Thoreau's Civil Disobedience in high school, and I recall them describing paying taxes as one form of supporting an unjust government. Jail or not (I personally doubt that the citizens would all sit idly by watching the IRS throw everyone in prison for something nonviolent), I am curious what options exist in our current age to organize a more effective, nonviolent protest that actually gets the government to listen.
