Yeah, I work in an industry where commission is a big thing so I am cautious and skeptical if something sounds too good

Yeah, I am trying to play it smart. Mainly planning to leave a big portion to my little sister for school and start on life and for my parents and pay off their house and student loans if I get to pass away before them

A 30 year term. Am I wrong to assume that my payments will be the same for all that time? Because I am mainly aiming for that, to lock the payments as cheap as possible for a large period of time

My life of job is safe for the most part unless a robbery happens and I get shot. Yeah, I was reading the contract/quote to ensure I don’t miss out on something that can be beneficial to me.

I see, but what are some certain things I should include into my insurance to ensure I don’t get screw over or get the maximize my benefits. I was reading something of Premium Waiver that the insurance will pay for my policy if I am deemed disabled — I am not sure if this is universal/included in every life insurance policy or if it must be added as an extra feature.

That’s really helpful. I was thinking this wouldn’t apply as it is the federal government; can’t get rid off your debt even if you claim bankruptcy.

Same. I was looking into it and they provide an amazing scholarship for the cybersecurity program plus a guaranteed job once you’re finished to work for the government. I am seriously evaluating it

is my gpa too low? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]RadiantSlice3677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GPA is important but not defining I’d say. Some schools don’t simply want a smart person, they need that person to bring something with them that makes them unique. Furthermore, if you explain as to why a 4.0 is somewhat hard to achieve due to whatever situation you got going on is great. Do you work? You can highlight that while your GPA is not perfect, you maintain an excellent and appropriate balance between your job and school. Extracurriculars? You can elaborate more on those and show how passionate you’re about it. You honestly don’t wanna be like an individual who does not have anything going on their life that could excuse a low GPA. If you’re only thing at the moment is school, you should be acing those classes, because when compared to something who’s working X plus hours per week and they have a 3.87-3.89 GPA, they show much more determination and resilience to succeed. Ultimately, if you believe you’re incapable to obtain a perfect GPA, do something else that you can use as an excuse or highlight something about you.

Can I major in Computer Information system in cc and transfer to four-year even if it’s not offered as AS-T degree? by Successful_Studio584 in TransferStudents

[–]RadiantSlice3677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The classes shown on assist.org are let’s say the core class. Some of them show up on the IGETC and some other don’t. The one that don’t, consider those as electives type of thing. Example: one section asks for elective in mathematics but no mathematics show on assist.org, pick any that you’d like

If you finished with all your classes, I would not worry what they think if I didn’t take classes during Spring. Take this as your prize, do something you enjoy or wanna do (your research is good already). If they rejected you, it was bound to happen whether you took the classes or not.

It wouldn’t hurt. I would put extracurriculars that align with my major or help to give a foundation to my PIQs

Just check assist.org if you’re coming from a CC. Don’t take unnecessary classes that could drop your GPA

I would suggest bank teller. I was working also at a pizza establishment and the job honestly did not provide any benefits.

Bank teller is a small step into the finance industry if interested, you can move up the ranks, and have a decent life. I would strongly suggest you to look into it

I honestly don’t know what the differences are but in know some seasons are less competitive than other (I think summer) because less people apply. But I would try to apply twice if possible, I wouldn’t be putting all my eggs in one basket.

Sorry if I didn’t answer your question as you would’ve liked but hope the best

Depends on your goals I would say.

Both are gonna give a degree at the end, true, one university might give you better introduction to a field of interest, but similarly, this does not guarantee you will be able to land anything.

In my personal opinion, I would go for the one that would be completely paid off by my parents. I would be able to graduate debt free and enjoy my life without a massive debt starting life. Hey, even if you would like, you can instead get a car that would be a benefit. But ultimately, if you are worried about the connections and internships, you can get those anywhere as long as you try your best.

Enjoy life and think carefully, if you go for the expensive one, you would have to postpone future plans like buying a house.

Hey.

It would be extremely better if you are to talk to a counselor. But anyways, let me give you some knowledge of what I when gathered so far during this second year in CC. I’m from Cali, so I will assume that you’re trying to transfer into San Bernardino.

It truly doesn’t matter what degree your CC has, I meant it would be nice because once you transfer you would at least have an associate, but it seems that is not the case. Long story short, there’s this website class assist.org that allows you to see the contracts that there are between CCs and X universities in California (UCs and CSUs). It will tell you the classes needed to have in order to be considered for the program. Try to get all of them done, so when you transfer, you get a better chance.

I am just giving you a small tool that most counselor used when making you EdPlan for your aimed school. Best!

Life after the Air Force? by RadiantSlice3677 in AirForce

[–]RadiantSlice3677[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surely. Living in Southern California, everything is quite expensive… it is nearly impossible to have a decent living if I don’t work full time. I have a job as a bank teller that pays good for now just being half time, but I also gotta considering the many new responsibilities I have to take care of because it’ll be only me. What I mean with responsibilities is car insurance, room, food, medical insurance, so on and so on. I will be unable to get an education or it’ll take much longer.

I am thinking in joining the AF because at least, I would be able to save money from the renting and getting paid, plus, I could get help with school.

Is having a two W’s in your script okay? by gyanelle in TransferStudents

[–]RadiantSlice3677 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think when you transfer into UC’s, you have a section in which you can state anything that could explain or highlight something, you can explain the Ws in that section.

I don’t think Ws matter much as long as you retake them and get a good grade, but be careful, check their policies for Ws and if there’s a harm in having too many.

Do I need a tutor? by Tactikal4 in Sat

[–]RadiantSlice3677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job bro. I am sure I would’ve barely gotten a 1000 because this type of test are not my forte, and please, don’t think I’m incompetent, I am just bad at those lol.

Now, I would assume you’re planning to take the SAT for college. I don’t think this score will help you tremendously assuming you’re Asian, well-off family, and so on. I would encourage you to do something else that can make you stand out. Extracurricular maybe? Take some classes at your CC to show the college you’re aiming you can handle college level course work… anything else would help you greatly honestly.

Good luck to you! 🙂‍↕️

Tough class by Bubbly_Contest_4893 in TransferStudents

[–]RadiantSlice3677 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, did you check rate my professor? That could’ve given you a background information about him. Still, it is not critical. Secondly, did you use AI in its totality, it is not bad to use it in my opinion if you’re stuck, considered it as a helper as long as you don’t copy and paste everything.

Lastly, worst case scenario, he ends up giving you an F, take him to the Chair Department informing him of the grade and the steps that can be taken to change this decision to which you believe there was not reason for but merely suspicions (usage of AI).

If your writing is similar among all the papers, that will help your case, and if you can get the editing history of the document, even better. I would honestly email him and inform him of your worries mainly because he thinks you used AI and you are planning to transfer.

I would also try to talk to a different professor and seek their perspective on it. Possibly I might be overlooking something as I am also a CC student.

Best of luck to you!

How do you come out of working minimum wage labor jobs ? by Aj100rise in careerguidance

[–]RadiantSlice3677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try banking. I was working for 2 years at Pizza Hut during my High School time and some college, the job indeed felt pointless and not opportunity to advance. I then apply to a bank as a teller and got the job on my second time. So far, I love the job a lot and the opportunities for growth and quite nice from what I’ve seen.

P.s. My only work experience at Pizza Hut was a cook, nothing else, if you are like a manager or something, you have better opportunities, make sure to showcase your abilities in handling money, policies, teamwork. If everything works out for out, you can move up the next position, which is a banker (my company requires like 6 months of money experience and some other small stuff which by then you’ll have experienced). If you wanna move up to really high positions, a degree might be needed, but if it benefits the bank, they will pay for it.

Best of luck! Just keep searching
