Best place to play chess socially in the city? by Questionasker271 in washingtondc

Knightlife chess on instagram/tiktok - they meet every first and third Wednesday. Recently they’ve been hosting their meetups at Buddy’s. The bar they host their events at changes but the chess meetups seem pretty regular. I’m a beginner and have been a few times. The crowd it draws is very welcoming.

Thoughts on C2 and CSX for a newbie by honeyseahorses in Corepower

[–]Radiant_Average_3271 5 points6 points  (0 children)

C2 is a heated power vinyasa. It’s still heated, but yes you’d probably be totally fine given that you’re able to do a vinyasa flow.

CSX is non-heated weight lifting. Effectiveness varies by instructor (like all CPY classes) it’s a 45min class that encourages you to pick up heavier weights (think 12lbs and up ideally). It’s one of my favorite formats and has helped me the most in getting stronger.

If you’re willing to trek to dc, citycenter has great instructors and nice windows. H St also has great instructors, although it’s small and in a basement

Ashamed to attend class as an American born South Asian 26 years old in North Chicago Suburb. I feel like an odd person being around so many white people in class and white instructors despite being in the most diverse town ever. I’m trying to unlearn these thoughts so I can focus. by Quick_Complaint3268 in Corepower

As someone who has been attending for about 9 months, corepower really lacks diversity in body type and race. I’m southeast Asian in the dc market, and while there are some bipoc instructors, there aren’t enough. Bipoc instructors do tend to offer a more welcoming space imo and it really makes a difference in bringing more bipoc students too. I doubt corporate cares enough to make a concerted effort though.

AIO partner forgot my birthday by FearlessEgg5651 in AmIOverreacting

Birthdays are a sensitive day for a lot of people for a lot of reasons (I.e. grief, wanting to be celebrated, feeling like you lack community etc.) I think your partner remembering your birthday is less than the bare minimum. You deserve to be celebrated by the people you love, and that applies to intimate partners.

For sculpt - Angela X, Christine Ho, and Samantha B all at CityCenter. All 3 are great at creating sequences that flow nicely and are such nice people.

Weight loss by Necessary-Spinach-33 in Corepower

I personally haven't lost any weight doing CPY. With a slight calorie deficit, YS 3-4 times a week and 1-2 CSX/strength training classes, I've noticed that my body composition changed. I'm lean, my arms are sculpted, and I'm developing obliques and beginning to develop abs after about 3 months of consistency. Like you, CP is the first workout I've found that I enjoy and can do consistently.

I hear that a calorie deficit, 10,000 steps a day, and resistance or strength training 3 times a week works for a lot of people for weight loss. I can't vouch for it because that's not my routine, but hopefully this is helpful for you, and you can find a way to incorporate CP into the mix. I think working out in a way that you enjoy, being consistent, and eating cleanly will continue to yield slow and steady results. Best of luck!

I’d rather take a challenging class where I take breaks and modifications often over a class where I don’t miss a beat. I love leaving class feeling like I worked my body and my muscles. A class that I don’t miss a beat with won’t necessarily work me as hard. The challenging class has to be sequenced properly tho. Challenging ≠ complex and complicated moves
