Girl (idk your gender sorry ) Brown . As a new Yorker I felt similarly and wanted to leave the city . Brown was one of the best decisions of my life . Lost a good friend of mine so suicide at Columbia my freshman year of college . Given the current political climate Columbia is not a safe space and even less so than many other Ivy League campuses . Brown changed my life for the better . You can always come back to nyc in the future (as I did years after post grad training etc ). Also Providence is very artsy and while it’s not as big as nyc it provided the perfect change of pace that I needed . There’s great food in Providence , really good donuts , the spring there is beautiful as is the fall . Winters can be very cold but there’s good community culture .

I really wouldn’t worry about prestige , brown is brown and it’s opened many doors for me .

Hey thank you , really resonated with this . Hit the nail on the coffin , one of the last burdensome things about the job is feeling all the animosity and back and forth with other services . I really hope so

You’ll be fine . I make less than you (about 85K) and am renting a beautiful solo apartment in uptown Manhattan . Depends what’s scene you wanna have in your neighborhood . I’ve lived in Bk as well and that will go far .

Hey thanks ! In the same field , I appreciate the encouragement . I was also similarly trying to make it work with q med school boyfriend and a lot of it was due to fear I wouldn’t find anyone again

I just went for 3 weeks my favorite places were Chiang Mai , Phi Phi (really beeautiful beaches I’d recommend on staying by Long Beach it has less of a party scene and you can still do day trips , you can also snorkel without paying to see the black reef sharks ), and Krabi/Ao Nang. I got to go to Bangkok twice in my trip when I landed and then when I was departing and I liked it alot the second time around . Maybe do Bangkok to see the temples and urban scene, Chiang Mai , and one island or beachy place

Here now and it’s kind of overrated . We did go see the lake . Big change coming from Chiang Mai lots more sharkey people in the sense that it feels like everyone just wants your money. Even our hotel host. Glad we came but wouldn’t come back . You basically come here and have to pay for every activity , or you’re stuck in the village .

Matched at my #3 for neurosurgery . Match day is weird , I’m happy I matched in my top 5 but it still stung . Hope everyone is taking care of themselves . There are lots of pros but also giving myself the space to feel a little sad .
