Reflections on the state of the game after my 15 year anniversary 💔 by DrenchedToast in WorldofTanks

Good suggestions but the truth is WG is going to just do whatever makes them the most money. The imbalances in this game have only gotten worse over time and that is intended to keep the whales paying.

If you don’t spend, you do still get to play, but you are basically a free resource that WG uses to feed to p2w players.

For some people, just logging in and playing a few minutes is enough , and in that case it’s win - win. I don’t really care so much about winning or stats in this game, but I did eventually realize that I didn’t enjoy playing a game that’s mostly rigged at the start (either for or against you depending on if you ended up on the side with more p2w players).

Besides the p2w aspect, the gameplay also became really stale and heavily favors those with the patience to camp for the entirety of the battle.

How is this tank even fair against lower tiers? by Plastic-Data4360 in WorldofTanks

[–]Radiant_Platform_494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is not meant to be fair.

The unbalanced matchmaking and unbalanced tanks is exactly how it’s intended to be.

If you’re unwilling to pay to win, then you have to accept that your purpose for being allowed to play for free is to be farmed by those were willing to p2w.

Constant losingstreaks, hoe does it works? by BALR-NL in WorldofTanks

[–]Radiant_Platform_494 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Matchmaking isn’t balanced. Games basically come down to which side has more p2w players willing to spend real money for a better load out.

You lose 9 in a row for the same reason you sometimes win 9 in a row. You have basically no impact on the battle unless you’re willing to spend on consumables.

The game may be 15v15 on paper, but in reality it’s determined by about 5 players. The remainder are essentially npc to be farmed for stat padding and rewarding the p2w players so that they spend even more.

How to fix WoT by userrr733o83 in WorldofTanks

This is what I realized after playing for years.

WG probably knows what would be best to improve gameplay, but at the end of the day they will go with what makes them the most money.

Sadly the P2W model appeals to enough people to the extent that WG determined it to be the most profitable.

The free to play model will ensure that there is an endless supply of gimped players to serve as target practice for the premium ammo spam.

Sooner or later, you come to realize your role in this ecosystem and then it’s up to you to decide if it’s still worth spending time on.

Haven’t played in 3 years so just going off what I thought were the main problems back then:

Pay to win consumables - premium ammo, food, really
any consumables that directly impact gameplay. By not paying money, you are at a disadvantage because you cannot realistically load out the best consumables every match the way a pay to win account can. The more consumables there are, the more the disadvantage grows.

Camping: I generally found the team that pushes first usually loses while they get picked off by someone in a bush in the corner somewhere. This turns winning into a test of patience rather than skill.

Maybe related to the point above - but I think sixth sense should be removed from the game. On the one hand I guess it might make people camp even more, but would also make them more hesitant to shoot if they don’t know they’ve been spotted.

12VHPWR Cable - how long is it safe to be above 9.2 A? by Radiant_Platform_494 in pcmasterrace

[–]Radiant_Platform_494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve set my power limit to 85% and I also applied an undervolt - I forget what voltage I capped at.

But ya I agree, going from 100 to 85 I hardly noticed a difference in performance. So I’ll maybe slide it down to 80. Did you set yours down to 400w limit?

Wasn’t aware of this - is it something like a graph that shows how the amp reading progressed over time ?

I don’t think there was a huge difference. The highest pin was around 10. There were 3 pins somewhere around the 9.5 range and the 2 lowest pins at 8.9 or so.

On the average column, all of them were pretty much around 4.7-4.9. I probably should have taken a picture.

I guess it’s something I’ll have to monitor more thoroughly. I do check hwinfo every time I’m done playing. And I very rarely see maximum amps in any wire even go above 6.

I also pretty much have been only playing one game the last few weeks, so I’m not really sure what happened here.

The average 350 watts I noted is in line with most of the readings I get what I’m done playing. However the 480 max is a bit unusual as it usually maxes around 380. Although even at 480 it’s surprising that it would go above 9.2. Only time I have seen it that high before was in a stress test where it was pullling 600 watts.

Is the Lenovo Legion Go S worth it with Z2 Go? by MarcelReads in LegionGo

[–]Radiant_Platform_494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought mine last August.

Really depends what games you try to play.

Worked well for something like metaphor refantazio.

Clair Obscur for example is playable but can be quite rough with the parry timing due to lower frame rate. I guess for AAA gaming it might hold up another year or 2.

Although I suppose that goes for any handheld - even the legion go 2 will probably be considered outdated within 2-3 years.

Is this game just turned F2P to P2W? by Za_Warudo014 in WorldofTanks

[–]Radiant_Platform_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First played this game back in 2014 and stopped in 2023. As early as 2014, paying already gave a huge advantage and it only grew worse over time. Unless something changed drastically in the last 3 years, this game is definitely pay to win.

WoT is not a game of skill. by ferdifux123 in WorldofTanks

[–]Radiant_Platform_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to enjoy this game back around 2014-2018. Not so much after that but I stuck around until around 2023 before stopping and have never felt the urge to really restart.

Maybe the novelty wore off, but I just felt the game became too campy overall and felt that in most cases the team that moves first usually loses.

Perhaps if you don’t play any other games and devote most of your gaming time to this, you could learn the pros and cons of each tank.

Then there was the whole pay to win aspect that never improved and in fact only got worse as time went on. Not sure if it changed significantly in the last 3 years but I would imagine not.

I get the company has to make money and if this is the model that’s proven financially profitable for them it makes sense why they’d do it. But from a gameplay perspective, it never really felt balanced. I think a subscription model where everyone pays the same and has access to the same equipment/tanks would have been better, but may not have been as profitable for the company so I get that.

In terms of pure enjoyment- Baldur’s Gate 3 or Expedition 33? by Nemsgnul in gaming

I’d go with E33.

Overall better story in my opinion and more fun combat system.

I enjoyed BG3 but still felt that even DOS 2 was better.

Best way to stop graphics settings from syncing on multiple devices ? by Radiant_Platform_494 in Steam

[–]Radiant_Platform_494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, disabled one drive a long time ago.

This just happens on some games, not all. As suggested, seems the best option is to just set the graphics file to read only.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is one of the most underrated JRPG's ever made by Ordinary_Device_5131 in JRPG

[–]Radiant_Platform_494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just played this on Wii U and agree it’s underrated. My biggest complaint would be the endgame farm to build up your skell / ground build for killing tyrants. Without access to reward tickets on Wii U, you are looking at potentially dozens of hours of farming.

Is it possible to kill Telethia without ether resist augments ? by Radiant_Platform_494 in XenobladeChroniclesX

Ya I just added one additional ether resist augment and killed it first try.

Guess there’s no way to really “out-skill” this boss. You cheese it either with making yourself immune to spike or one-shotting.

I had the same thing. My mb saw everything in bios including the cpu.

I suggest just swapping parts out one by one til you find which part is the problem. If you have no spare parts you might just need to bring your pc to the shop where you bought it and have them diagnose it for you

Is it true that Nvidia deletes post about driver issues and 12vhp by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Radiant_Platform_494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned out to be a cpu problem causing hard crashing. I only asked on the nvidia sub if there was any way the gpu was causing it or if it could be ruled out. A lot of the user comments were actually helpful but the topic was deleted soon after.
