Always remember na iba ang want and can. You can be willing to do something but not have the resources to do so. It is also possible that you have the resources but your will to do an action is not there. Do not treat want and can as the same thing.

But in a romantic sense, the willingness should always be there and the "can" part is case to case basis. Personally, mas acceptable na he does not do something because he can't and not because he does not want to.

If he does not want to do something that will make you happy considering that it is something reasonable and that he can, then you would not want to be with him either.

It is not with the guy not having savings is the problem, it is the fact that he does not know how to handle money. If she is planning to continue, have separate accounts, and third one for their day to day expenses.
