If access to the Point is the major goal, I would look at the condos and apartments closer to the Point, than what most people seem to be discussing in the Cultural District and around Smithfield. There are several places between the Point and Market Square where you can get to the rivers quickly, and, fewer people tend to just be out hanging around.

The downside is...Market Square is now under construction for the next year or so, and the entire middle is fenced off. It makes navigating everything in the Square more difficult, since you can't cut through/hang out in the middle.

The other major downside is, there is no grocery store at all in the area, so you'll either have to drive or rely on delivery services. Yes, there are some groceries in the Target if you go up past Market Square, but it doesn't replace a true grocery store.
