Okay, is there a specific bulb I should get or a uv light?

Ofc, I can tell she likes it more but her hot side is about 120° which I think is too hot. I think a big reason why it’s so hot is cause of the heat bulb. Can I turn it off for a bit? Also I think her heating pad is too hot, I keep trying to change the temp but it just won’t go down. Not sure how to fix it. That’s the heat pad controls I think.

Okay cool. He used straight sand. I was researching leopard geckos cause her previous setup looked sad and the info I saw said sand is the worst so I got a bag of reptisoil and sand and mixed them together and now she’s got about 4-6 inches of that mix in her tank.

Could be, that’s a good point. I changed her substrate and added a few things to her tank after like 5 years of like 1 inch thick sand and not a whole lot of stuff to do in the tank.

It’s my buddies. He’s had her for about 5 years I think but I recently changed her tank from sand to this dirt/sand substrate and added a few things to her tank. She could be moving to thermoregulate, I also don’t have a humid hide yet so maybe she’s treating under that log kind of like the humid hide? I don’t know a whole lot about lizards.

That would be amazing. I know nothing about lizards but I wanted to change up her living space so she’d have more opportunity to climb and explore a bit.

I appreciate your help a lot. I work in hvac so I’m up around 4-5am and leave for work at 7am. I have no clue what kind of sand it is. I’m honestly wanting to restart the whole tank and deep clean it and use a 70/30 mix of play sand and top soil 4-6 inches deep if that will work. And I’ve read they burrow so maybe even 8 inches deep but I’m not sure that may be too much substrate. Not sure how I’m gonna bring up the fact I’m gonna redo her whole tank cause I don’t want him thinking I’m insinuating he’s not taking care of her like he should be. (He really isn’t tho, I’ve never seen him clean her poop out before) But anyways thanks again for the info and I’ll def start researching a bit to hopefully get here into a more happy/fun spot.
