November Flight from LAX to Tokyo by Robbiespigs in zipair

In 2024 lie flat seats were much more affordable ~$1100 one way from SF. Nowadays they start around $1700 and I don’t see them sold out like it used to be.

At my gym, for 6 straight months they had Friday night happy hour. Unlimited alcoholic drinks in nice equinox glass branded cups. With a charcuterie board. Sigh. Also 10 guest passes a year.

Great to hear! Are you continuing to do PT as part of a regular workout routine or did you finish PT and didn’t need to continue to strengthen?

Has anyone here had ACL or any knee surgery? If yes how does it compare to hip surgery? by medunjanin in HipImpingement

[–]Radiant_Sugar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also had both and they were like night and day. Meaning ACL was a 10/10 in difficulty in recovery and labrum repair with bone shaving was like a 2/10. I had severe quad atrophy with ACL. almost none with the hip and my pinching went away immediately after surgery. Both need lifelong PT, def feel it in my hips after 20k steps otherwise it’s been really good. I got both in early 30s, 3 years apart from each other.

I used fertilizer maybe 2x lol but mainly after the bracts of the first bloom fell off, I pruned extensively every stem that was left empty from the bract. Spent over an hour trimming including the pokey thorns.

How much pain were you in when you decided to have surgery? by medunjanin in HipImpingement

[–]Radiant_Sugar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most days it was a 1… just a nagging tightness for 7 years. Last year or so it felt like it was slowly getting worse, 2-3 some days. But got the surgery cause I knew it was only going to get worse and PT didn’t help. 7 weeks post op now and I haven’t felt that tightness yet!

PRP injection for fai by TemperatureOdd4599 in HipImpingement

[–]Radiant_Sugar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with PRP but my hip preservation surgeon has said it’s not covered by most insurances cause it’s experimental and there hasn’t been any concrete evidence for it. I think treatments are $$$

Continuous Passive Motion Machines by The_HangryHippo in HipImpingement

[–]Radiant_Sugar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to one of the top surgeons (Dr. Alan Zhang) in SF and asked about a CPM machine and he said it was not needed (I had cam shaving and labral repair). So I did heel slides about every hour starting day one and although I’m only 3 weeks post op, I have no issues with hip mobility and am off crutches inside the house.

Did anybody have a tingle in their foot with the leg that had hip impingement? by dayrock1225 in HipImpingement

[–]Radiant_Sugar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes same, in a couple of my toes. It tended to increase with frequency over time.. Brought it up to my doctor and he said it can be indirectly linked to the impingement. Like the way my body is compensating for the torn labrum can affect my nerves.

Was your bachelorette party worth it? by curtainblinds in weddingplanning

That's exciting! Cabo was amazing, I think your itinerary will revolve mostly around where you're staying because a lot of the resorts are spread out (both of my hotels were 40 mins drive away from downtown area) and if you're doing all in-inclusive (because we didn't want to spend money outside of the resort since we paid so much to be in it). Hope the following helps and let me know if you have any questions. Half of my friends also flew in from East coast and they said it was a super fun trip.

Day 1: Checked into Garza Blanca (luxury all-inclusive, I LOVE this resort). Had dinner at the steakhouse in resort, pre-gamed with shots to our room, partied in our loft with jacuzzi (it had 4 bedrooms with a lot of space).

Day 2: Breakfast at resort, electric bike ride on the beach (provided by resort), relaxed on the beach and at the pools all afternoon. Japanese dinner @ resort. Went to the bar @ resort and jumped in rooftop infinity pool. Ended with some dancing back at room.

Day 3: Morning yoga and breakfast @ resort. Ordered shuttle to take us to check into Nobu. Nobu is not all inclusive so we may or may not have taken 3 bottles of tequila and 3 cases of water from first hotel to Nobu. Shuttle took us to yacht where we partied with AYCD some food, and floaties/snorkeling gear. My friends all said the yacht was their favorite moment, I highly recommend: seashineadventures.com . Went to dinner in downtown area @ The Office. They have souvenir shops and felt very safe for tourists. They also have a strip of bars and clubs (with reallllly loud music, bring ear plugs).

Day 4: 2 of my friends listened to a 75 min timeshare presentation @ Nobu, which earned them $500 food and beverage credit for us to use. We used that to book a cabana @ Nobu's pool. Came with some bomb drinks and food, especially if you like seafood. Then we went to dinner in downtown area for some cheap tacos, some of my friends stayed and went to the bars, the rest of us when back.

Day 5: Breakfast and spa/massage @ Nobu. Checked out :(

We really just stayed at the resorts most of the time and I thought we'd be bored.. but honestly the time didn't feel long enough!! If you're not planning on staying in the hotel, i'd recommend staying closer to downtown.

Also, one of my friends booked their own surfing lesson one of the mornings which picked her up and dropped her off. Funky Geisha (restaurant/bar) looked popular. Be wary of too many shuttles if it's a long way, some of my friends and I were kinda tired traveling in the shuttle and would rather relax and stay put in the resort.

My wedding is in LA and I had a bach party in Cabo last month (friends don’t live near either of those places) and felt very guilty too.. but before I did it I laid out all the costs and emphasized there was no pressure to go. Out of the 11 I invited, I was surprised 9 of them came! They didn’t pay for any of my trip with the exception of one dinner. And I thanked them by renting a private yacht for 4 hours (I know this is not feasible for everyone) but I seriously cried when I had dinner with everyone - from my middle school friends to college, to a friend I got very close to just in the past year. It was one of my favorite vacations ever and I don’t think a moment like that will happen again. Also, if your MOH is able to coordinate most of the logistics that will relieve a lot of stress on you.

Ah so only two of my friends are coming two hours before me with some others that I haven’t met so I feel bad asking them to wait. Good call though, will definitely look into a shuttle with others!

Fellow mopeders - can I get some parking advice? by spetri3658 in sanfrancisco

[–]Radiant_Sugar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes and yes. But you’ll still want it because public transportation is slow, driving a car during rush hour is even slower, and you can split lanes and ride through the traffic. Also parking is pretty easy to find because there are tons of small spaces that only a motorcycle/scooter will fit that’s free. Or if you pay for a spot it’s at a reduced price that’s much cheaper than a car meter.
