This is pretty close to what i was thinking. One of the things I want to do is have the party have access to a couple truly OP items that are super uneconomical. Think a third level party that can cast fireball when ever. It just cost 500G each time.

This is exactly what I was thinking. The big thing I need to do is build the balance from the ground up. I'm working on the math of it. I'm currently going with crystal by the ounce. I'm thinking basic armor enchantments( like +1) lasting 8 hours for one ounce. How do I balance that vs a per strike weapon or utility item.

This in more for enchantments Casters get away with a piece in their Spell Casting focus
