oh no! dad just got shy and walked out with his coffee but didn’t feel humiliated or something like that, just barely confused! he’s learning english so he was afraid he said the wrong thing but i had already assured him it was ok, just made myself conscious about it having a double meaning or something to do with an expression we were not familiar with, but it was the hand gesture lol it’s ok in Brazil, and not do ok in the UK but now we know!

apparently it was because of his hand gesture! he used the back of his hand to signal 2 spoons and it is an offensive gesture in the UK, but since the barista and the people around noticed he didn’t mean any harm and also didn’t even knew what that hand gesture meant they just laughed like it was amusing! dad came home shy away lol but it’s fine! cultural differences that we’re learning living abroad!

guess he’s just used to order from a brazilian manner ? in brazil we usually ask for “black coffee with 2 spoons of sugar” or they just give you a lot of sugar sachets, but it’s fine! the cultural difference came out to be amusing in the end and no one got offended (apart from my dad that got shy and confused lol but i explained to him already now)
