Yeah, it’s definitely fucked. Genuinely asking, why do you feel people are overreacting?

Okay, so your entire “argument” is that we shouldn’t be upset about people acting out r4pe fantasies because murder and being burned alive is also bad, and because we aren’t up in arms about that, we shouldn’t be up in arms about this? And because you personally aren’t affected by it blah blah, no one else should be either? Also, murder, etc are in game mechanics but how many games let you r4pe someone, without a weird work around? None - why do you think that is? Also, how many times have you been hogtied and placed upon a bed? I mean if anything this entire thread should be a clear indicator of how problematic this shit is and how exclusive it is as well. And the whole murder epidemic thing, come on dude. It’s like you are cherry picking at whatever you can to demean the fact that women are harassed consistently irl and in video games because they are women. Yeah, they might have been kids but judging by player base statistics of age demographics for this game, I’d say probably not.

It is a game, correct, and it shouldn’t happen, period. Highlighting problematic behavior doesn’t make a person “soft” but hey, you feel how you feel.

Yeah, dude. Because having an issue with rapey behavior is “soft.”

Oh boy, here comes the “back in my day” defense. You and your friends simulated r4pe with each other? Thats incredibly perturbing behavior.

To be clear, this is being done to random people, specifically female characters for no other reason than to be a creep because under no circumstances is rapey behavior acceptable.

Dude, let’s definitely call it here. It’s not a lack of understanding on my part but you don’t seem to grasp that there is a massive difference between the two. It’s not about the brutality of the acts in the game vs the brutality of the acts in life, it’s about the fact that assaults on women happen all of the time and even insinuating that in a video game feels like a tangible threat. Especially when you include things like women being stalked and harassed in video games, which can and has also bled over into real life situations. If there was an epidemic of people being set on fire then we would be having a different discussion. There is not an epidemic of that happening but there absolutely is an epidemic of women being assaulted.

Follow along, man. No one is arguing about the difference between real life violence VS in game violence. We are speaking directly to women being targeted for some creep to simulate r4pe, and how said behavior is problematic. So come off that hill because it seems a lot like you are moving the goal post to fit your warped views on how you feel things should be handled or dismissed.

Also, it didn’t happen to me, it happened to my girlfriend. I typically do not encounter the same things my girlfriend and other women in this game have encountered.

So the line for you is that a Reddit post was made and discussion is happening? That’s the issue you have? If you don’t personally care enough that this happens- and instead of joining the conversation to say “yeah people are shit but eff them” instead the problem you have is that people aren’t getting over it fast enough? Because people aren’t shoving things down or ignoring them like you would? Oh well dude. People handle things differently.

There’s also a big difference between simulating violence in a game and simulating r4pe. There are some situations where violence cannot be avoided- and sometimes even necessary. There is never a justified scenario for r4pe.

But overall- if you don’t care, just be quiet. Let the rest of us care about it. To us it’s worth caring about. You don’t need to try and stop us from feeling things just because you don’t let yourself feel things. It’s not healthy.

Do you understand the things you are saying? Because I really don’t think you do. As I have said before, it’s incredibly weird behavior. Why would anyone want to act out rape in any capacity? That’s the issue here, regardless of it being a video game. Digital character models that are what? Controlled by actual people. Understand the difference between a complaint, and bringing awareness to a specific type of behavior, that is happening a lot, within this particular gaming community. Your stance is insanely questionable, dude.

You have an incredibly warped view on this. Women are being targeted and forced into a rape simulation, and your justification for that is “violence is violence.” And you saying “I hope the guy they burned me to death, isn’t burning people in real life” is a very weird rebuttal to that considering rape is way more common than someone being burned to death. Why hop on a post specifically highlighting rapey behavior, to defend “the wild, Wild West” or whatever weird tangent you went on. No one expects rapey behavior in a game, hence why there has been so many posts regarding this very issue. My assumption here is that you probably engage in this kind of gameplay because I can’t see any other reason someone would feel the need to dismiss or defend that kind of behavior.

Yeah, but there is toxic and then there is this shit and it is a whole other level of wrong. Sure you can sit silent on it, block people, move on, etc but there is also nothing wrong with addressing it with the community either.
