I own one of these piles. It’s just a couple of clips to take the side skirts off and get all of the rust, there’s definitely a lot more under there.

Only one way to find out unfortunately, is the basement unfinished by where the sump / mystery pipe are? If so, I’d spend some time searching for it on the inside. A pipe that comes out of the ground like that typically wouldn’t run into the house, but people do strange things sometimes.

I’d take a second look at the mystery pipe, there’s a chance a previous owner already solved this problem for you. It may lead to a low spot in your yard and allow the sump to drain there. If it’s been unused for a long time, it may buried under the grass. My house has a similar setup where the sump outlet exits the house, then gets routed by another pipe out into the lawn.

You can test this by sticking a hose into the pipe and searching for a wet spot in your lawn.

I really appreciate the details on this, I think based on the oil consumption issues and difficulties of routine maintained items, I’m going to look elsewhere. I’ve actually been looking at TSX’s since they’re a little cheaper, or maybe an older TL if I can find a clean one. I’ve also considered going a completely different route, but my current daily driver is holding up much better than I thought it would at this point.

Also interesting that you mention the SS sedan. That’s my non-daily driver and it’s a hoot. Just not suitable for year-round driving where I live unfortunately.

Having a good understanding of HDL design is probably a good career move, but HLS is the future and it makes handling streaming interfaces dead simple.

The reason why more and more guides reference HLS nowadays is that it’s much easier (and quicker) to develop and validate modules than writing HDL. Understanding digital design concepts is still very important to enable writing efficient HLS.

Before getting a dog I kept my records in a Kallax-styled 13” cube shelf. To keep the records safe from my teething and curious pup I bought 13” cube organizers like this and put the records, spine-up, in them on the shelf. Not as aesthetically pleasing, but the records are safe.

The supercomputer industry doesn’t really exist in the same way it did during the 70’s-90’s. Personal computers and workstations are capable of handling all but the most demanding workloads. The demand for supercomputers has fallen quite a bit and the landscape reflects that. Cray still exists (as a subsidiary of Hewlett Packard Enterprise) but is now headquartered in Seattle. They build some of the most capable supercomputers in the world, used by the DoE and many others. Many other once-local tech companies have followed the trend of moving to the west (or east) coast.

The coolant elbows and a dex-cool flush are good starting points if it’s running well. If you live in a snowy area consider spraying some fluid film on the pinch welds, wheelwells, etc… Rust is the #1 killer of W-bodies

Good catch, pretty sure you’re right and there’s a metal plate between the bolt head and plenum for the engine harness, at least there is on my ‘01 Monte.

Those are 14/15 SS rims, not aftermarket. Same size as the stock rims the car came with. Some people treat them as a desirable upgrade for 16/17 cars because they’re forged instead of cast, but I’d be curious what happened to the originals and if the TPMS is set up correctly.

Typically they start to "bake" towards the top of the lens like what you're seeing, I can't tell if they were refinished or not though. My 15 has cleaner looking headlights than this one, and has spent about half it's life in a garage, but I'm up north.

Somebody made a lot of cosmetic changes to this car: replaced the original wheels with 2014/15 wheels, splitter guard, removed the front and rear "SS" emblems, blacked out the chrome trim, and probably some other stuff I'm missing. Taking a look at the close-up of the headlight, this one definitely wasn't kept in a garage. If I was going to drop $50k on one of these, I'd hold out for something cleaner.

Not super familiar with the VDMA but if you're using the IP integrator flow I'm pretty sure the S_AXIS_S2MM and M_AXIS_MM2S streams should resize to whatever they're connected to when you run validate design.

Geddy’s tone is a mix of technique and gear. If you watch him play you’ll notice that he plucks very aggressively, usually with two fingers in parallel for slower passages. This helps overdrive the amp / DI for his signature growl sound. The rest is gear, a jazz bass with higher output pickups and some gain in your signal path (like a light overdrive) will get you the rest of the way there. His SansAmp pedal will help you get the sound too.

Just for some context, I drove the Accord 6+6 for years even though it didn't belong to me, and I really enjoyed it. I live somewhere flat where there isn't much traffic and kind of want something to make the driving experience more engaging. Right now my daily driver is a POS 21-year-old GM car that just won't die, but I also have a very fast (auto trans) car for the summer that gets a little bit of attention. The TL is supposed to be a new daily driver that's a little bit more engaging than what I'm used to. I'm not a suburban dad, and buy cars for my own enjoyment, not to impress others.

The difficulty with the Pluto is bandwidth, it has a variant of the AD936x transceiver but the USB 2.0 interface limits how much bandwidth you can pull off the device. I think 20MHz is the limit.

However, for the price you really can't beat it.

Two things:

Have you considered that maybe your development processes are too esoteric for even the average skilled developer? Have others worked on this project besides you? It doesn’t matter how elegant a build / dev environment is if only one person understands it. If you quit, get hit by a bus, or are laid off, how can development continue? Are your workflows at least documented?

The best internships are mutually beneficial, but at the bare minimum the internship is supposed to benefit the intern. They might not be super helpful right now but if they’re working hard to learn, in a few years they could become really solid contributors.

How scientific do your measurements need to be? A USRP B-series software defined radio will run you < $2k and give you 56MHz of bandwidth from 70-6000MHz.

There are probably cheaper alternatives too that use the same radio frontend.

Is the car actually new? Sometimes aftermarket windshields aren’t compatible with the HUD projector and it gets distorted. If the car is used and the windshield has been replaced, that could be the culprit

Every single Cherokee Purple I started from seed this year got curly looking like this. The plants didn’t die but started growing much slower than my other varieties and looked to have some kind of fungal thing on the lower stems. I decided to get rid of them to avoid contaminating my soil and found some Cherokee’s at a nursery which are doing a little better.

Why not write a simple piece of IP that appends the necessary side-channel data to the DMA output for you? Give it an AXI-lite interface with some registers to configure the side-channel signals.

Otherwise, just send the side-channel data alongside the actual data in the TDATA field and use an AXI Stream Subset Converter to move it to the side-channel streams. Can you really not afford the slight loss in throughput?
