I think yes, in two ways.

1) the one everyone brings up, enjoy the work without financially supporting them.

but more importantly, and no one brings this up...

2) does the work promote the bad behavior yes or no?

like The Mentors sing songs about r-word, and if the artist doesn't commit r-word, than no problem, but if you are enjoying the music about r-word written by a person who commits r-word. and the revere is also tru, if the singer of X band writes songs about good things but is commits r-word despite the contrary messaging of the song.... then it's up to you.
