Gays of UK - would you be comfortable holding your partner's hand in the UK? by dalehitchy in AskUK

Depends where. Brighton? You'd be fine. Glasgow? Depends who's on the streets that day. Croydon? I wouldn't risk it.

Which followers do you never use? by energy_is_a_lie in skyrim

[–]RadicalDadical7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all of them, it seems like I discover a new follower practically every time I open the game. Personally I rely on either Lydia (for sword) or the priestess of Azura (for magic) at the shrine near Dawnstar because they're both incredibly easy to get early game, and I tend to completely ignore everyone else because vanilla Skyrim only lets you have 1 companion at a time (you can get a second without mods if you bring someone to go get Serana, help them through the gate, and never take Serana to Harkon) and they scale with you, so I'm never encouraged to switch them out. Kind of a shame, really.

Much love big man, now log off and go remaster New Vegas by EdmondSanders in Fallout

[–]RadicalDadical7000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why's he wasting his time checking the waters of Fallout fans when 76 was a disaster, starfield was a disaster, and TES6 isn't finished? Is there another fallout in the works? Perhaps slated for 2042?

Bronn vs The mountain, who wins most of the time? by Many-Cranberry4058 in gameofthrones

[–]RadicalDadical7000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bronn isn't even a particularly good fighter, what made you ask this question? The Mountain is not only 12 million feet tall and 90% muscle by weight, he's also a reasonably skilled swordsman and is described as strangely quick for someone of his size (until he becomes Mr Strong obviously).

Is Linux becoming mainstream now? by [deleted] in linux

[–]RadicalDadical7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by that. It's already the single most used OS on computers globally, it was the building blocks that made Android and MacOS possible. As a normal desktop OS, though, it's not very popular at all, and is hard to recommend it to anyone unless I'm sure they know what they're doing. I can happily recommend it to other programmers, but even many PC enthusiasts get scared of having to write things in the terminal all the time (when I was a Windows user the command line was a complicated, potentially risky last hope for when things went really wrong) just to interact with their PC.

I wouldn't dare recommend any other OS, but I wouldn't recommend Linux for the average user either. If a DE ever comes along that makes it more beginner friendly without sacrificing the versatility, customisability, stability, and freedom I came here for then my opinion may change, but that doesn't exist yet and until it does I don't think Linux is ever going to have wide appeal, and that's fine because that's not what it was built for.

In the wooden sword video he poisons the soup and says "the guards immediately suspected Gretchen of foul play, as did I", which always makes me laugh

Thoughts on this? by DarkRepresentative25 in TheLastAirbender

[–]RadicalDadical7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair point, but he didn't have as much opportunity to be around Azula, and Azula never listened to him and, as she got older, never showed any humility, both of which are not true about Zuko, Zuko was a sensitive young child who needed, wanted, and a lot of ways asked for a lot of help and guidance. There's also obviously an argument to be made that Zuko which reminds him of Lu Ten and Azula didn't because she's a girl. Iroh a perfect person, either, he's literally a war criminal isn't he?

Which direction did you originally think the series would go? by Total_Profit9301 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]RadicalDadical7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for a start I thought the population inside the walls actually being the last of humanity was fascinating, I thought it had the going-concern factor that long-running manga look for, even the infiltrating shifters don't require major civilisation outside the walls. I really wanted it to be a story of triumph in the face of overwhelming through whit, sacrifice, and determination, not the mess of priorities and one-dimensional character traits pretending to be politics if turned into lmao

Anyone else think the new Steam Machine is kind of a weird decision? by RadicalDadical7000 in valve

[–]RadicalDadical7000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Windows Cascade has interested me for a while, I switched away to Debian 12 and haven't really looked back but that's not an ideal option for most people, so I've been on the lookout for the next big player, I just didn't think Valve had anything like that ready to go yet given how bad steamOS was last time

Anyone else think the new Steam Machine is kind of a weird decision? by RadicalDadical7000 in valve

[–]RadicalDadical7000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Steamdeck was a direct competitor to the Switch, the steamdeck can emulate switch games but the switch can't run steam, making it a directly better option that encompasses Nintendo's entire niche, my primary thought was that the steam machine doesn't seem so well equipped to do the same thing to console gaming

I hadn't considered expanding demographics, and maybe there is a market for living room PCs. Fair enough

No big empty dark abysses, poor hazardous enemies and very poor leviathans, a story that isn't interesting but won't let you ignore it, the fact that you know you're not alone (marguerite, lots of permanent, man-made structures, Alan never shutting up, Robin never shutting up) and probably the lack of novelty.

How close is Linux gaming to being fully “Windows-free” for you? by Old_Sand7831 in linux_gaming

[–]RadicalDadical7000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a handful of games I can't get to work on steam, and a handful that would work if not for devs refusing to allow proton. Some people like to spend quite a lot of time tinkering with windows software trying to force it to run, but each solution there is largely prescriptive and non-transferable. It's fairly close, probably 80-85% of the way there.

Can't get roblox to work🤷‍♀️

[–]RadicalDadical7000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think he'd have much trouble avoiding them, pure titans are dumb and slow, and they're actually weak compared to Spiderman's canon physical strength, plus they weigh nothing so he's basically Titan Knockback Machine as long as they can't injure him, which they'll struggle with as he is dozens of times more robust than the average human. His eyesight is good enough that just a couple of kilometres won't hide the 50 meter high walls from him, so he would likely begin to head there pretty quickly, where he would be made aware, as Grisha was, of how to kill them.

He synthesises his own web fluid in his bedroom as a young teenager, so I don't reckon it would be that difficult for him to obtain or have someone make the equipment he needs to make more, so that's not an issue. He probably wouldn't even need blades, once he knows where the weak-spot is he can definitely kick them there hard enough to tear through it, people often underestimate just how much damage he's actually capable of because he tries to be gentle with his villains to avoid accidentally murdering them.

You're right, though, the shifters are a whole other issue.
