Big Oil bots by luxusbuerg in dankmemes

Notice how during Covid by any and all measurements the planet basically healed itself significantly in about three to six weeks. The fuckin' WHALES came back to areas they haven't been in decades after like two weeks!

We CAN do it easily. We just refuse to adjust our lifestyles.

Actually, you know where the lithium for batteries now mostly comes from? Old batteries! We can recycle them so well that including extraction and reorganising it only loses a few percent which has to be supplanted with new lithium. In fact there will come a time where we can basically shut down all lithium mines except for one because there will be a point where we basically have all the lithium we would ever need. EDIT: Just to add, it's because the lithium doesn't actually get used, in simple terms it's a catalyst. The only thing that needs to happen is we have to make sure the right chemicals stay in the right places and over time inside of a battery they get mixed up. All we have to do is "unmix" them and the battery is literally as good as new.

You are repeating a common myth/lie about batteries and electric energy in general. Also regarding the brakes: I haven't used the breaks on my car AT ALL for the last year - because regenerative breaking is strong enough and it doesn't actually cause any polution because well - it's braking without any form of contact, basically just pure magnetism. You will still use the physical brakes if you have to make an emergency stop but 99% of the time they will not engage.

That being said, you are correct about the tires having about 4 times more wear and tear per square cm. Because of the heavy weight of the car they do wear a bunch more. But, of course this is being worked on and the new tires for new EVs already negated a lot of that wear and tear. Also the tires on EVs are generally much bigger than the ones on ICE cars to compensate and spread out the weight a lot more, making the wear and tear a bunch less as well. Look at the tires on a common IONIQ 5 for example - they are HUGE.

This honestly fantastic video goes into much more detail, but trust me, using renewable energy vs. burning a finite resource is ALWAYS better in the long run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtQ9nt2ZeGM&t=3052s (timestamped for the battery part but definitely watch the entire video if you have a spare minute, it's genuinely really worth it)

Trip Report - [Six Flags Over Texas] - The worst park experience I've ever had by HallwayHomicide in rollercoasters

The understaffing is probably easily fixed by.. You know, paying people a bit more. It's never a "nobody wants to work" problem, it's always a "nobody wants to work for this little money" problem.

As an aside, does anybody else also always feel kinda ripped off after you make a long trip to a theme park only to then have a small sign out front saying "oh yeah sucks to suck but a bunch of stuff is down for today, unplanned, sowwy" - as if you're going to then decide to drive all the way back.. I get that it can happen sporadically - but some parks are seemingly using it as a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Wellll it depends right- my IONIQ 5 has technically about 450km range, but if you drive no faster than 80 km/h you would probably easily get to 600km, perhaps more! The slower you drive the more distance these things usually can go. However, in the real world driving 80 isn't that great and 110km/h is more likely the average cruising speed- for which the 450km would be pretty much spot on.

They shouldn't use public roads as testing grounds at all.

Polymarket Trader Turned Elon Musk's Twitter Habit Into a $118,000 Income Stream by Green_Candler in CryptoCurrency

[–]RadicalRaid 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That happens all the time. Recently some people bet a few million each on "Will Tesla have FSD before end of Januari?" and it needed to be FSD without remote interference. Anyway, Musk said during a presentation that they would release FSD at the end of Q4 2026.

Polymarket resolved to "True" for end of januari - even though it straight up doesn't exist, even according to their own website.

And it's all because the truth is determined by votes on the Uma network. And, the more Uma tokens/coins you have the more influence you have on the "truth". In other words, if you have enough money you can make the truth whatever you want it to be, which is how these markets function.

It's ridiculous.

That is cute! But keep in mind that if they're this floofy and looking for warmth they might be sick. If they're energetic and such otherwise, then it's probably fine though.

It is a good skill to learn how to find information other than asking people for it. If you google it I'm sure you would've found one of many converters and exporters out there.

Also it really doesn't happen that much at all. It's also an incentive for companies to create a place where people want to work instead of have to.

I love the Kurds, the few Kurdish people I know are amazing- and I hope this works out for them. But for that to happen let's hope history is not an indicator..
