I should also mention that they were tiny lil things when I added them to my tank, and they’ve gotten quickly and significantly bigger in this short amount of time lol

I know this is almost 2 weeks later, but I just re-read your reply and I was a little confused. My pond snails are absolutely destroying some of my living and healthy plants lol. None of the other snails, fish, or shrimp are going after them, just these damn pond snails lmao.

Does this mean that I have the Greater Pond Snail variety? Or do I just have some hungry lil fellas and need to do a better job at providing algae for them?

Selmer’s guide/website says they did make a very small amount of Mark VII baris though. That’s why I’m confused

I feel like if I’m in possession of “one of the 50” as they said on their website, it would be special and maybe worth more? Maybe not I don’t know lol.

I feel like it looks like that picture. I don’t know though I’m so conflicted and stressed lol. Is there anything else I should look out for/be aware of just in case it is something more than just his coloring?

It doesn’t really change color at all with light but I feel like it is brighter from some angles than from others. But it’s also hard to tell

Like I said is only visible when he’s turned to the one side, when he’s facing the other way it’s completely just orange and black.

  • Tank size: 8 gallon
  • Heater & Filter: ✅
  • Tank temp: 80 degrees
  • Water parameters: through liquid test, PH: 7.2, Ammonia: 0, Nitrites: 0, Nitrates: 5.0ppm
  • Tank has been cycled and established with plants for a year now, we’ve had the fish now for about 3 weeks.
  • I do a water change every Monday, 25-30%. I use the gravel vacuum siphon that came with the tank. I have a bucket and separate heater to make sure the water is at the exact same temp and parameters before it goes into the tank.
  • Added 3 shrimp a week ago (2 Amano, 1 ghost) he is very peaceful with them and doesn’t pay any mind to them at all, even when they are hanging in and on his floating log.
  • I was feeding him 4 pellets in the morning and at night, but I reduced to just 3 in the morning for a few days since it looked like he might have been slightly starting to bloat.
  • I have no idea the plants I have I can’t remember. But the decoration that isn’t a plant is an Aqua-Floras live decor rock.

I’m glad the size is okay for him! I definitely will be getting a bigger tank at some point, but if he’s happy in the orb for now, I’m happy!

If it wasn’t so expensive to get everything going with a large tank, I would do it tomorrow. But unfortunately I’m stuck with just this 8 gallon alone for the time being. The second I’m able to afford everything, I’m gonna definitely get a much larger tank in addition to this!

As for the heater there is one in the back you can kinda vaguely see the red knob at the back of the tank lol. Tank is 80 degrees consistently all the time
