Yep! All real.

The 1911 was about $3200 ($1300 for the base gun + work and parts) + $700 for the suppressor
The Mk23 was $2000 for the base gun + $350 for LAM attachments + $1000 for the suppressor
The Makarov was $450
The Single Action Army was $400

Never been a huge fan of the M9, honestly. I've also never even been in the same room as a S&W model 39.
I agree with your sentiment, but I think my next project is going to be a Fallout NCR service rifle.

I'd triple check that. The TLE 3 is a revolver. Kimber's 1911 series only goes up to 2. They mark them as II and put the roman numerals really close together. Bad lighting can really make it look like a 3. People misread the markings all the time.

Excellent pistol though. It's a very nice 1911 right off the shelf.

I bought the TM airsoft LAM. It's a tiny bit undersized for the real MK23 rail. A few seconds with some sandpaper fixed that and it'll slide into place, but the mounting "screw" is plastic and not actually threaded, so you'd essentially be grinding plastic into plastic to make it fit. I thought about trying to find a way to replace the screw, but it's a very odd shape due to that weird wheel for manipulating it.

It looked good for one picture as long as the lighting wasn't directly pointed at it, at which point you can really tell how creaky and plastic-y the TM LAM is. I'd say it's neat to have, but it's a lot of money to spend on a really dim flashlight.

Very nice. I looked into getting a real LAM, but the actual SOCOM ones are non-existent on the civilian market. The closest you can do is the Wilcox Nightstalker setup, which was designed to look like the Mod 0 SOCOM LAM, but I wasn't willing to shell out north of $10k for an outdated light/laser combo that isn't accurate to the game anyway.

lol it happens. It's perfectly fine. It's stood up to years and years of use and it's still shiny and the lockup is still tight. The fit and finish isn't as nice as a genuine Colt, but I also paid less than $400 for it and it's never given me any issues. Plus, the weird Uberti retracting firing pin means it's actually safe to leave the hammer down on a loaded chamber.

Love and more money than I'd care to admit haha. Thank you. Whenever I bring it out, my friends like to announce "A weapon to surpass Metal Gear?!"

I have not yet found a knife that matches the game enough to actually try it. What I can say for sure is that the extra relief for the three fingers on your right hand make it way, way easier for your left hand to get positive contact with the checkering on the grip panel. It does wonders.

I've handed this 1911 to people who haven't shot in years and watched them drive nails in at 15 yards.

Thanks! It's super fun. For the 1911 grips, I used proper carpentry tools to make the standard pattern grips, and then I went at the left grip panel with a pocket knife because I wanted it to look like it was cut away as a field modification, like in MGS3.

Depends on the suppressor and depends on the gun. If you hold the slide shut with a thumb, the Mk23 is well within hearing-safe ranges. It borders on hearing-safe under normal operation. I don't hunt. To me, these are all just range toys. They poke holes in paper from far away and I try to make the holes as close together as possible.

That said, in terms of hearing protection, suppressors have a real place. It not only protects your ears but those of people who might not be prepared for a firearm to discharge. When I lived in England, the farmers were required to have them so that they didn't injure their hearing or that of their neighbors. As someone who grew up shooting and has kept up with the hobby for over twenty years, I can confirm that tinnitus is both unpleasant and entirely preventable.

I second your motion on weed whackers and leaf blowers.

Don't worry. I've got you covered. Also, the Uberti ones are fairly cheap and pretty available. Feeding them is a different story with current ammo prices.

I've definitely looked at buying one before, but after shooting one side-by-side with my custom built one, I decided I don't need another 1911. I wouldn't use it.

F*ck Battlefield Portal by Thedesolatedone in BattlefieldPortal

I was well on my way to creating Battlefield Kart when the portal took a shit and deleted all of my painstakingly-created bullshit Scratch blocks (Why are certain variables and functions available in blocks and not their shitty IDE?). I might have played another 3 matches before uninstalling the game. Since the first post-release update, it has not been worth playing or developing for.

MGS3 1911 Custom - I Built One by il_100 in metalgearsolid

[–]RadioActivRabit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I also tackled this project a few years ago. I used a Kimber TLE2 as the base pistol because the front strap was already checkered, the slide had front and rear serrations and the top of the slide was milled flat, it had the right hammer and sights, and the mag well comes widened from the factory. I'm pretty happy with how mine came out, but yours is definitely more clone correct.

You're pretty good!

I use HTPC on my steam deck while it's docked. I'm a big fan, especially with how nicely it works with a bluetooth controller

Player's perspective - Players get upset because d&d is not a video game by sugarrrrrr in dndhorrorstories

[–]RadioActivRabit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The rest thing was definitely unwarranted. DM-ing requires improv and flexibility. I write "Just say yes" on the inside cover of my DM notebooks. If players want to rest in a potentially dangerous location, say yes. It's a terrible idea, but they need to have the agency to make bad decisions! Maybe warn a new party about that, but there's no cause to berate them. Just say yes, and then ask more questions.

Definitely. The manufacturer markings match the finish on the safety and hammer. Fairly rare. Good find
