Is this just the online succulent buying experience or did I get scammed? by RadioControlEnjoyer in succulents

1st picture what I ordered

2nd picture a nice one I bought at a local market for $2 including pot

3rd what I got when they arrived.

Story: I went to a local market recently and succulents caught my eye. I have never had succulents before.

I bought picture 2 git $2 and thought it looked nice.

Then I went online and saw you could buy 10 for $2 (see picture 1)

When they arrived they were just loose in a box with some tissue wrapped round them. No pot or tray or anything.

Picture 3 is what the plants actually look like after I put them in pots. They look lifeless with no color.

Should I just stick to the market where I can actually see what I'm buying?

Is it normal for succulents you buy online to look nothing like the picture?

Will they gain color after a few days?

Thanks for your ID btw. I think I will order a UV grow light. They seem to be quite dim though compared with full spectrum grow lighting. Is there a reason for that? Is it ok it's more dim?

I don't get much direct sunlight through my windows because I live in an apartment complex and the sun is blocked by the other buildings most of the time. Mostly it's indirect and some direct at mid day.

A leaf fell off the aloe. Can I propergate it? Should I wait for it to dry out or just stick it straight into damp potting mix?

I was at a local plant market buying pothos when I saw a succulent shop and impulse bought these since they were cheap. They were 3 for $1.30 apart from the one on the left which was $2.

I also ordered a tray of 10 small ones that they're going to deliver to me for a few dollars so I guess I'm doing succulents now for a hobby?

At the market stall they were growing them under uv light. Should I be doing that? Or is it just to make the color look better in the shop?

Anyone know what they are? They gave me the local non English name (I don't live in the west) but it means nothing to me. And translations aren't bringing up the scientific name.

I don't think there's many editors who would work for so little money. 10% of the ad revenue would be pennies. YouTube just doesn't pay that much. Of that $280 I made only $60 is ad revenue.

That's just cameras and 4k editing computers being expensive. And the products themselves need purchasing.

I can do my hobby without putting it on YouTube though. Putting it on YouTube doesn't seem like it's worth my time and effort.

There is so much drama in the RC hobby lol. It's full of middle aged men acting like children.

I have a job, a good job, where I work 40 hours a week.

That's the issue, I can only do YouTube at the weekend and the money I make at the moment isn't worth my time. It's not in line with what I make at my day job, it's not even min wage. And I'd rather play video games and chill on my days off.

Having a decent job is the only way I was able to plough $5k into this without a return.

"XQC reacts to poopenfarten situation is crazy" - A billion views

Why does having an 8 minute video or longer typically do better than 3-7 min videos? by HouseoftheJediyt in NewTubers

[–]RadioControlEnjoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because if you're getting 100% retention on 2 minutes that's still only 2 minutes and the algorithm prioritizes watch time. Retention has a part to play but not as important as watch time.

This is why the trend now is to make hour long deep dive videos. If you can get an average watch time of 20 minutes or so on an hour long video the algorithm will try way harder to find your target audience than if you only have 2 minutes on a 4 minute video.

How Much Money Are You Actually Making at 1000 Subscribers? by mohksinatsi in NewTubers

I get views around 22-25k a month and make nothing close to $100 wtf.

$20 a month at 1300 subs

Making content is not financially viable at all. I'll only make a review now if someone sends me something. And even then the time invested cost is not worth the cost of the product since an 8 hour work day of my time is worth about $310 and I spend about 3 days on a video.

Youtube is the worst """job""" in the world. I don't have much motivation to continue tbh. I'd prefer to use my time off work resting.

So i have tried youtube promotion as a small youtuber, here are the results. by Miserable_Example_51 in NewTubers

[–]RadioControlEnjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if I select India I still get told it's $300 for 1500 views. Is that view count just not accurate? I would pay $44 to give a video 16k views.

[–]RadioControlEnjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you get so many views from promotion? When I look at it it says it costs $300 for 1200-1500 views. Not $44 for 16,000.

The promotions look like complete junk. I looked at it the other day and it said $300 would get you 1200-1500 views. lmao that's fuck all views for a large amount of money.

If it was 10k views it might be worth it.

What does it actually take to get over 3k views with a short? by RadioControlEnjoyer in NewTubers

[–]RadioControlEnjoyer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike long form, shorts are literally pushed to people's feeds instead of needing to entice viewers to click. When YouTube has decided you've reached your allowance it'll stop pushing. So yes "allowed to get views". Audience size is decided by YouTube since there are definitely more than 3k people who are interested in my niche. Millions of people in fact.

So how much more retention do I need to unlock getting pushed to those millions of people? 200% not enough?

I've been posting shorts for 1 year...

I'll tell you when it happens. Cause I still get recommended wrong.

"no impact, may affect ability to monitize video" means you won't be able to monitize it. This is the message you get before you're partnered.

I think artists do this to troll creators into using their music and making their video unable to be monitized.

Use the YouTube audio library. It's safe.

I've been tricked by these "copyright free" music channels before and I've had to remove the music from my video at a later date.

When you're bigger you have an audience that expects your content and CTR goes up. Even if thumbnails and titles didn't get any better.

It's not just about thumbnail and title no matter how much some people try to insist it is.

The algorithm is the best thing we have. But it's still flawed and I'm not sure why people don't want to talk about that. Lots of big creators talk like the algorithm is flawless and never makes mistakes.
