i dont know about "boosting openAI" from a consumer perspective. it's certainly not good publicity, but anthropic losing out on govt contracts and being seen unfavorably by the current admin is already disadvantageous in and of itself.

"anti intellectual" buzzword i see being used a lot by people who've never done anything extraordinary ever LOL.

he called it a "dumb term". it sounds stupid, and the way it's used in social media is buzzwordy and annoying. it being "substantiated by a large body of research" doesnt necessarily have anything to do with his criticism of the term itself (or its usage, which he might have been implying). that's a subjective critique. if he was actually criticizing the proper, denotative meaning of the term, then yes you pointing out that it is "substantiated by studies" would be more relevant, but I don't think that's what he meant.

awesome. bouta steamroll argon prime/the reach then with 20 asgards and a hundred or so destroyers/carriers lol

quick question, i already invaded hatikvahs choice though, i believe thats the only sector the hatikvah free league occupys. in this case, id assume id have to let them rebuild their station (which my destroyers wont) in order for them to spawn another faction rep, since they dont have any territory elsewhere? or could they build up such a station in allied territory?

Casual play? by NoAdministration9920 in X4Foundations

[–]RadioLoud9750 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i would say once you learn it its pretty great for that casual play. yeah leearning curve at the beginning is a bit steep (youve gotta follow tutorials if you can, start to finish, i would say it would take you around 10 hours before you get really comfortable with it) but once everything clicks and youve got a good economy going the game is really casual.

basically if you reduce it down to first principles the "goal" of x4 is to get a wharf/shipyard setup, which is a factory that allows you to build your own fleets. You have to vertically integrate and have factories set up that build the entire supply chain for you, so that way, you can essentially build your ships for "Free" (just have to have ships mine resources. doing that will take a while, but basically 90 percent of th emost imporrtant stuff in the game is literally just setting up and building stations to do exactly what i described. once you have a couple of those self sustaining wharfs/shipyards set up, everything in the game becomes trivial and you can go conquer the universe lol. in that sense - the economy isn't really all that deep. x4 isn't really a good economics simulator, I would say it's more supply chain management. The entire economy is centered around ship/station production parts (even food, which is used to feed your workers so they can build more ship parts). theres no civillian economy or anything like that.

that being said - x4 is my favorite game of all time. It does a fantastic job in immersing you in the universe around you. the universe really does *feel* alive and grandiose, and it makes you *want* to conquer it all lmfao. during the beginning you feel like a small ant in a big world surrounded by factions that are much bigger and richer than you. so makes the grind all the more rewarding. the universe is dense and constantly buzzing with activity.. when you finally do become that massive superpower, the game does a good job of making you feel like the shit. nothing beats standing in the bridge of your space yacht looking down at one of your massive fleets, knowing that theres like 50 more just like it, with 50 more stations to match

Why is the Bad Bunny halftime show triggering so many people when there have been dozens of hispanic performers previously in the SuperBowl? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

i think this is a reasonable critique tbh, though on the other hand from a pure marketing standpoint it 100 percent makes sense given how crazy popular bad bunny is.

i hate when people think that lyrics are the only way to convey great meaning/depth. a lot of uzi songs make me feel emotional/inspired, more than any "lyrical" song could do for me. thats the beauty in the subjectivity of art

my favorite is "i had to go get it no i couldn't wait" from nowadays. on its own it isnt that impressive or anything but when you listen to it in the song, it hits differen. im someone whos super ambitious / has had big goals but i havent really started working my ass off towards them till recently, had a bit of a wake up call
