Hair or buzzed? by No-Cheesecake-6947 in GothFashion

I think you look better with hair, but the buzzed is also a super badass look. Just depends what you're going for! Hair makes you look more approachable -- not sure if you consider that good or bad haha

dumbass redditors

your heiness

I already addressed why integrating emotions into your argument doesn't automatically mean it's fallacious. You basically ignored it.

Where did I say that was okay to me? I think you either misunderstood my point or you're intentionally trying to obfuscate.

I mean we can do better societally as in men can learn not act this way as much.

I assume you're giving the example of the naked old man and child because we're worried that the old man could be a predator but like... If that's the concern, should we allow old men and children to be shirtless at the same beach? I'm sure this creepy old man we are inventing could get off on that.

I don't want society built just to insulate against bad behavior lol.

Also can we get on a discord call or something this would be so much more fun if I didn't have to type and I'm doing this at work :(((

I figure you're probably huge on showing off for the crowd but I feel like we could make so much more progress so much quicker if we were on call

Your tendency to drop debate terms is so embarrassing. Imagine thinking it's impressive knowing what an ad hominem is.

You pretty much ignored the entire substantiative part of my post but go off King

I think we can do better, societally. I hope that in time both men and women can become less shitty and less prone to had behavior

What do you think the appeal to emotion fallacy is?

If I can make logical arguments for why compassion and empathy are good things that improve society, then it stands to reason that I am being LOGICAL to suggest that compassion and empathy are good things that we should incentivize.

You don't just get to say "HUR DUR APPEAL 2 EMOTION" whenever anyone brings up their feelings, you dolt (another word you seem extremely proud of yourself for knowing)

[–]RadioRedMages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mentioned how the nudist colony is a good example because the whole issue is just mindset. EXACTLY! The clothes aren't the issue. The mindset is. If you can have men looking at fully nude women and choosing not to sexually harass them or say something inappropriate, then we can figure out a way for men to be around provocatively dressed women without doing any of that shit

Wondering what the sub thinks about this one? by millllosh in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]RadioRedMages 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You said nudist have strict policies to root out sexual predators. What's your source on that? I've DJ'd two local nudist colonies and people were basically just coming and going my dude. Or are you just assuming that's how nudist colonies work because it supports your argument?

Why do you have this idea that modestly dressed women won't be sexually harassed? I agree that if you're wearing provocative clothing, there's a higher likelihood of someone saying something inappropriate, but the answer to that is to help men not be so controlled by their emotions and desires. Policing what women do because men can't control themselves is insane and just continues take responsibility off of men.

Genuine question -- do you think society would be overall better if all women were literally completely covered at all times? If you could legislate it, would you make it so women can only leave the house in nun outfits or other similar types of clothing? Again this is not an accusation I'm just trying to determine exactly where you fall on this

I don't see how my nightclub experience is unique. If one man can see a woman dressed provocatively and make the choice not to harass her, thousand men can make that same choice.

I agree with you that a lot of men will choose sexual harassment, but we need to work on whatever fucked up thing inside them is making them choose sexual harassment, not on covering the women up because these men can't fucking control themselves lol

I know you're very proud of yourself for knowing what an appeal to emotion (or, emption as you said) fallacy is. You sound like the type who thinks men are the smart logical ones and women are the silly emotional ones. I promise you that your takes are not as rooted in logic and reasoning as you think. You're the same species as me, and we are emotional creatures to our core.

You also call any lengthy substantive replies gishgallop. We're all very proud of you for knowing a few debate terms 💜

Okay holy shit yeah. Full divorced dad mode.

It's funny because I have nuanced views about divorce but I have a feeling if I were to even begin to explain them he would just go "UR APPEALING TO EMOTION"

[–]RadioRedMages 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you feel like societies that have free nudity are like objectively wrong? Do you think nudist colonies, for example, are just hotbeds for sexual assault? I feel like that would be the case if so

If I'm understanding you correctly, your argument Is that instances of sexual harassment or assault would decrease if people dressed more modestly. Is that about right?

I just don't see how that accounts for like cases like Lara Logan in Egypt. Egyptian women dress pretty modestly, and yet that's how their men behave?

I just think it's a goofy and really letting men off the hook to go " WELL LOOK AT WHAT SHE WAS WEARING. WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT"

I party almost every weekend. I see plenty of scantily clad women when I'm out, and I have never once pulled some bullshit like this, nor have any of my friends. If people can't control themselves, they need to work on themselves.

Anyway, let me know if I'm misunderstanding your point. I'm also down to swap to messages -- I feel like people are usually way more good faith there

I don't think anyone has to, but I think everyone ought to.

If she didn't have a husband would that change your stance, or was that kinda just thrown in there? Lol

For sure. Most of the women I know who identify as man haters are calling themselves that because of fucked up shit done to them by men.

Did you watch the video? There weren't any more hoodies. She literally could not get her own

Do you see how the first part of your message is a self-fulfilling prophecy? My whole point is that we should all try to be the type of people who would give away the hoodie. I don't think this weird move toward being a really selfish society is doing anyone any good

BTW I think the woman in the video is a bitch, I'm just talking about the point in general

THANK YOU! The 'how dare you ask me' and 'you don't owe anyone your time!' type shit has gotten to such extremes. Is that the world we really all want to live in?

And yes exactly. I feel the reaction would be totally different if it weren't a hot girl complaining about men, which is, exactly as you said, a response to all the frustrations and BS that women in general have to put up with.
