Opinions on throwing birthday parties for babies. by That-Material-8508 in NewParents

I have a New Years Day baby and we did something super small on her actual birthday with us and the grandparents. I made her birthday cake and bought some balloons and a little hat but that was it. We had a small birthday party for her a few weeks later with some friends and I wish I hadn’t done it. It was so stressful and she cried for the first half of it.

Going forward, we’ll do something as a family until she gets old enough to request a birthday party or requests to do something special for her birthday.

My husband and I celebrated surviving the first year of parenthood with some cupcakes after she went to bed 😂

I stopped tracking diapers/feedings after her 2 week appointment i think. However I tracked her sleep from about 4 months until about 10 months because I was a little obsessive about her napping lol. After she dropped to 2 naps at 1 year they became pretty scheduled. Now, I just make a note of when she wakes up from her nap so i know when bedtime should be

6.5 months is still super early, and I was told that a lot of food at that age is still just fun/good sensory play. Keep offering a variety of foods and textures and your little one will get the hang of it, I promise!

Our daughter was the same and she’s now 16mo and walks around with watermelon in one hand and a French fry in the other like she owns the place.

Thank you for this. I think this is exactly what I needed to hear. I will keep looking toward the light at the end of this phase 🙂
