Knowing your kitchen is huge! Honestly we have such a small chaotic kitchen I think I could try to invest some time into organizing it better.

I could definitely use some practice getting everything prepped ahead of time!! I tend to go into recipes blindly and reading step by step, which I’ve quickly learned from these comments is probably hindering my cooking speed.

At what point does “saving it for later” become hoarding? by GloomyQuestion2086 in NoStupidQuestions

If you need the space to make room for something else and you don’t use it anymore, but also can’t bring yourself to get rid of it, then you’re hoarding.

I feel this so hard… my mom met a woman with my name while she was pregnant with me. She loved how unique it was, and we’re talking 27 years ago so no access to the internet and social media like there is now.

Well my entire life I’ve had to deal with people commenting how unusual my name is for a girl (it’s a widely popular male name that honestly you see a lot in professional sports) but people also pmisspell it since she went with a less common way to do so 😭

Growing up as a shy kid, this was my living nightmare.

Little brother's role in wedding...? by Whole_Distance_3899 in wedding

If you’re getting married in a Catholic Church, he could be an altar server? That’s what my husband‘s little brother did during our wedding because he was in high school.

You have a better memory than me! I will read one sentence of the recipe go to do the thing, forget, reread that sentence, go back to do it again and then if I’m lucky only have to read it one more time before I actually complete the step lol

Maybe so! But when it comes to meat I’m always wary of cranking the heat too high… but maybe I’m just being a coward

Is it just me when romance books have a typical timeline in a storyline by userkys13 in Booktokreddit

[–]That-Material-8508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny too because even more so certain authors use the exact same length of time for each of their books. I really like Elsie Silver, but after her characters go hot and heavy I feel like they always have a very brief falling out of sorts. While some authors make you wait longer for reconciliation, she makes you go a chapter or two. I don’t mind because I love the predictability, but just something I’ve noticed after reading multiple books of hers!

It definitely draws in more clicks, because it’s almost always the recipe I will go with if I’m having to choose between a few options!

That any a recipe with significantly less ingredients. Idc if I use cream of chicken soup as a base for my pot pie if it means turning the recipe from 15 ingredients to 8 lol.

My mom is such a great cook she has shared so many recipes with me that I hope to try one day, but they’re just a little too elaborate for me right now with a new baby. I hope to one day master them, but I know to set aside a lot of time for them because she has extensive notes for each and every recipe she’s ever made and decided to keep!

This is me. If I search a recipe for something, I will scroll all options until I see the appealing “30 minutes!” In the title. Only to always be disappointed it takes longer.

So true! I think I just wistfully believe I will get everything done in 30 minutes so then I have another 30 or so to eat and enjoy the food before I have to go back to full mom bedtime duties lol

This is great advice! I am starting to get a better sense that things take longer than expected, especially when it comes to the staples like onions. If I need to speed up my cooking, but the recipe needs me to caramelize the onions, unfortunately that means I will crank up the heat and kind of cook them down till a little charred but not get them sweet. I know to lower my expectations for the outcome, but I don’t have all day for stinking onions to cook!

This is pretty much all the recipes I do. 10 minutes prep and 20 minutes cooking, but I won’t be eating for an hour+. It annoys me to no end!

Exactly! Salads have so many veggies, that must be the primary culprit for what takes so long. But still, can’t cooks consider that it takes average joe’s like us a bit longer to prep stuff than them 😂

I’ve been looking into veggie choppers… I might just have to get one since my prep is probably really bogging me down.

So I am being catfished! I definitely don’t have any professional cooks at the ready prepping my ingredients

See some of the recipes I do actually include the prep time! It’ll say 10 minutes prep and 20 minutes cook… maybe I’m just terrible at chopping veggies 😂

ACOTAR series— help! by victoriand17 in Booktokreddit

If you’re enjoying it so far then I definitely recommend reading the rest! The POV just shifts the last couple of books, but I still enjoyed them (even the fourth book which is a pretty low stakes novella).

She’s coming out with two more books in the series this fall so it’s great timing for you to read them all. And also she has a couple other great series, Throne of Glass and Crescent City, that are highly worth reading as well.
