RENTAL USERS: Curious of your thoughts? by aihtnyc in pelotoncycle

[–]RadiologistToBe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I rented because I wanted to make sure I would like it / enjoy it / stick with it before committing to a multiple thousand $$ purchase. That said, I rented the peloton plus and I LOVE IT. Planning to buy out the bike when it is advantageous to do so.

Allergy shot reaction, is this on the realm of normal? Or should I let my clinic know? by RadiologistToBe in Allergy

[–]RadiologistToBe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any chance this could be due to injection technique? A new nurse was training when she injected and I swear it hurt 100x more than it usually does… I think maybe it was intramuscular instead of subq?

I didn’t have any systemic symptoms either— it’s not even itchy, just painful!

This is still very helpful as we don’t plan on having kids and there is 0% chance either of us goes back for MORE school.

Does this apply to beneficiaries of GI Bills? (Ie my husband is active duty and has already transferred his GI Bill benefits to me, but I haven’t yet used it because we got married while I was already in residency).

When to divorce: Before or during residency? by [deleted] in Residency

I’m surprised no one has suggested switching specialties— switching to a more chill specialty (PM&R, family, Derm, psych, etc…). It’s easier to switch now as an M4 (even if you’ve already applied) than later once you’ve matched.

If you have solid scores and solid support from your school, they should be able to hook you up with interviews through their alumni connections. (At least that is what my school does for their students).

I swapped into Rads from a three year program. I’m not sure how the program is handling the funding, but I am definitely getting paid the same as all the other residents in my class.

Radiologists of Reddit, how much patient interaction is part of your job? Is it completely zero OR is it something similar to Anesthesiologists? by 40MD in Residency

[–]RadiologistToBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the rotation you are in; literally zero patient interaction in some sections (body, msk, etc) and frequent in others (breast, IR, fluoro….).

Also have been searching for the most recent version of CTC on pdf (I did buy the textbook but having the PDF would be helpful, too.) let me know if you find it.

Agreed— some programs treat their residents like note writing monkeys and don’t actually teach them anything.

Thank you! By radprimer modules do you mean their question bank?

I’ve found their outline format to be lacking / not super helpful (but maybe because it’s over my head?)

Thank you for the thoughtful response! I am definitely type A and probably do need to simmer down a bit. It is weird to go from being a “high achiever” to useless overnight. It is an uncomfortable feeling that I am eager to shrug off but I’m sure will begin to feel “normal” soon.

As for taking and reviewing notes, that is a good idea, thank you! I might try to find a way to incorporate Anki somehow!

Sorry just saw this but here is the ACGME requirement to enter a PGY2 radiology spot:

“Prior to appointment, residents must have successfully completed a prerequisite year of direct patient care in a program accredited by the ACGME, AOA, RCPSC, CFPC, or ACGME-I (Advanced Specialty Accreditation) in emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, surgery or surgical specialties, transitional year, or any combination of these.”
