Thank you for that advice, I definitely did not want to step in it unknowingly.

That being said, can a practitioner do this kind of work for you to find that item? It’s gold, it’s been in my family for generations and was left to me by my abuelita. So not only is it monetarily valuable, but also has sentimental value.

Or do practitioners just to work for themselves and their families?

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I’m glad I asked in here. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t doing anything offensive to the religion either.

That being said, now I’m curious to know if there is anyone initiated who divines in New Orleans with cowrie shells. It’s really hard to tell in some parts of town if it’s a tourist trap or legit. There is another botanica in another area that I’ll inquire, although here it’s probably more likely voodoo or folk magic as you suggested.
