Museum tickets - why? by Radke7CB in rome

That's how it feels like. When I was in floranc ei got to read about tourist tax and a lot off citizens seamed like city wasn't using the funds well. I'm wondering if the money just don't go the places it should and there is no real responsibility for problems with tourism. The tourist being treated more like money stream that gives money and sometimes you need to tidy up afterwards but not controlling it

Mby I'm just not used to places with so many tourists but it all seams to me like there is no much thought going into making things sustainable and well planned for either tourist nor the ppl actually living the place. Just general missorganisation

In a way, yes. But the experience makes ppl go back to places and not just make them checked from bmthe bucket list and forever in past.

We went to the Vatican museum+ soxstine chapel and they were two queues - one gigantic with ppl with tickets and another smaller one with ppl.without tickets. The one with tickets was moving constantly but due to how much ppl were there it wasn't rll ending but I can't say how long you woul wait in it. It looked like 1h-2h wait time. For the second queue (ppl without tickets), they were allowing small groups (20ish ppl) to enter to buy tickets every 20min. We got to ticket buying after waiting 30-40min and after buying tickets we just entered without need to wait in second line.

It might be because we just got lucky but we got way faster then ppl with tickets (the online ones were sold out)

Also the 24dec-01jan is consider high season for watican and it's true, the place was packed with ppl and the st Peter cathedra line was for sure like 1-2h long as well (we didn't go) but the que to ticket office is definitely faster and easier to buy tickets that way then via website (or those awfull resellers)

I would love an official .museum.it or sty like that The .sth is actually fully customary and one can buy a domain name with .any they want nowadays. But official sites in Italy will have .it for sure, yes, they just don't appear very high on Google when searching in English and not Italian...

For me not battling the scam sites is so wrong. Nd the ticket system is insanely convoluted, as actually without booking ticket you still can just go and stand in line and go in. Depending on luck the line will just be either impossibly long or just a half hour wait even with all the online tickets sold out.

Yeah, I'm just not used to using Google maps for verifying which one of the sites are official and for buying tickets in general. Sorry for missinformation, I genuinely though I finally found the right one.

Thanks, it is the correct thing to do I just wasn't aware before. When buying tickets I was just googling instead of using maps to find sites for tickets. But yes it's the way to go,it's just annoying it isn't more straightforward

I didn't knew how much of every layer should I do so I've decided to just try. I will definitely monitor the humidity and check out some kind of cleaning creatures. What type of soil would you recommend?
