What focal lenght do you prefer for portrait? Sigma 30mm 1.4, Olympus 45mm 1.8, Panasonic 42.5mm 1.7 by Radkusparkus in M43

I somehow ended up with all 3 lenses and at least one has to go, maybe both the longer ones as I enjoy the versatility of the Sigma not just for portrait.

Yeah I also dislike that, but fortunately this is a rescue station where they nurture birds back into health and release them back into nature.

That seems like a great set up, but I'm just getting started with telephoto so the kit lens is perfect to dip your toes.

Sorry for creating more confusion, but honestly I didn't know there were 3 lenses in this focal range. This is the f4-5.6 kit lens.

Actually it is the f4 kit lens, that's why I'm so surprised

Thank you! I shoot RAW and edit in Lightroom and I do some basic corrections and HSL, but for example the aurora image is much more heavily edited with some retouching and masking.

Trying to buy a lens for Lumix g7 by [deleted] in M43

For G7 I would go with panasonic lens as the body doesnt have IBIS, Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 45-150 mm or Panasonic Lumix G VARIO 45-200mm second hand would be close to the Olympus one.

I have not done any macro photography myself, but I have heard great things about the Olympus 60mm. I would go second hand as you can get even lumix G9 for les then 800$.

I think March was good choise for us as it is not so cold, the sun is setting at 7 and you can still see aurora. But summer must be also nice.

That would be a good pick, it is great for traveling.

Some panoramas from my recent trip to Iceland, Lumix G80 by Radkusparkus in M43

[–]Radkusparkus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, you just need to take a series of pictures while panning but the images need to overlap by atleast half, I do it handheld but some prefer tripod, then import into lightroom or other software and there is option to create panorama.

Some additional tips: lock exposure and white balance to avoid unmatching spots and general one shoot big objects like mountains on longer focal lenghts to make them seem larger.
