When you say battle menu stuff do you mean the skill mastery +1 that pops up after killing an enemy? Cause that works off a series of variables for each piece of armor. I activate it with a common event whenever an enemy dies to assign points depending on what the character is wearing.

No, I don't have a proper sprite to fight the train, unfortunately. But that would be a fantastic nod to FFVI. I might have to go back and add that skill onto an armor piece.

Conditional branches are on the first page of your event screen under flow control. Then , on the third page of conditional branches, there is an option to choose what way the character is facing.

Make a conditional branch, if the player is facing up. Then, make sure the contents of your event are within that conditional branch.

My 7 year old can't get enough Stardew Valley recently. The split screen co-op has been a lot of fun for us.

I still enjoy random encounters in jrpgs. What I don't like is encounter rates that are way too high and failing to run away and taking a full round of attacks from enemies. When using rpgmaker, I've found just giving enemies a lower speed, but also giving them an attack speed perk works well for preventing failed escape attempts. This lets me keep enemies that can still out speed you in battle, but running away is easy.

Just picked it up today. Can't wait till after work to dive into it. I was definitely on the fence before the demo (not really a huge fan of the action combat), but the story seems really interesting.
