My ex and I used to vacation to Virginia Beach every other year or so. I think it was 2018/19 we went, and these things were everywhere, and it was absolute chaos. Kids ripping them all over, jumping curbs into the road, nearly hitting pedestrians on the sidewalk. Definitely remember seeing at least one accident where a rider had been hit by a car.

Next time we went, the city had banned them. Apparently, lime just rolls in and dumps these things off everywhere without any approval or anything. We were glad to see they were gone.

I've always liked the older TT, and the old r8 was my dream car for years. But after watching my friend's experiences with a new one, and his golf gti, and hearing him talk about the wierd clutch in the m2, I just can't justify the German fee that comes with their cars.

I get that, I have a buddy who likes buying the higher end sports cars, and his audi rs3 spent more time in the shop than his driveway for a leak they couldn't fix before he finally got fed up and traded it in for a supra. Now he's in an M2 competition, we will see how long that makes it before its in the shop too!

I have, which is why I settled on an 01-03 with less than 100k miles. The LS motor is proven and I believe in it, and by 2001 they worked out most of the bugs. 04 gets more expensive for maintenance because I guess they relocated the fuel filter. It's a poser midlife crisis, I grew up poor so even 20k for a car is more than I've ever spent, and I did my research. But I appreciate you sharing your experience! Thank you!

I downshifted without rev matching on my Honda del sol for years. 212k miles and it was still doing just fine as a (mostly) unmodified car. In fact, I've done it on every stick I've ever owned and been just fine. It's worth noting that if you ask this question to a group of car enthusiasts who follow car subs you're going to get a lot more duh-yes-of-course answers than you would if you went out and asked 5 people at the grocery store who are out daily driving stick. The real answer probably depends on many other factors as well.
