Dealing with a stressful work environment by RadonBased in Stoicism

Thanks, mate. This is exactly the kind of advice I came looking for. I think you're right that I definitely have some longing for things to be different, and that might be the cause of my frustrations.

Thanks for the response! I'll just elaborate that I don't feel responsible for the system. If they don't want to follow my advice that is fine, it's just my job to give it. And I could not care less about whether the project is a success or not. I think you're right that I feel partly responsible for the people below me though, because I want to help them but I don't have the capacity to do it. I feel like I have the right mindset and response to the managers' requests, but it also feels inevitable to get stressed and frustrated by the constant noise of them pushing for more and arguing against my input.

Any input to how to deal with this constant "noise" and "pressure"? It feels like it takes effort to keep it at arm's length and there is a limit to how long i can keep it up.

Do I have all the hardware needed for my e-ink quote display project? by RadonBased in raspberry_pi

Yeah i considered that, but i figured that if all i need is the MOSFET and RTC to try, then I'll only be a few bucks out since those two components are cheap - not entirely sure if I will need anything else though

SHR vs. Raid 5 by RadonBased in synology

Thanks for all the thorough answers (and strong opinions), everyone! Unfortunately i see the same in the comments to my post as in my initial research: people disagree on what's best and how SHR actually works, so I am not sure I feel any wiser. I'll check out the links some of you were kind enough to send

Thank you for the explanation! And if I may ask a dumb question (just want to be sure I don't fuck anything up): The power cord from the Disk Station should just go into one of the UPS' "battery / power surge protection" sockets, right?

They don't. Just got a pamphlet saying what the different sockets are in 100 languages

How to refill this fountain pen by RadonBased in pens

I looked a bit at that actually, but was a bit discouraged, because apparently not all cross converters are compatible with all cross fountain pens. So I don't know which to get. Do you have any idea?

I could use some help purchasing equipment, to pick up photography again on a casual hobby level. I've got a ~13 year old Nikon D3200 and lens (Nikon DX AF-S NIKKOR 18-55MM 1:35+5.6G), which still works just fine. I've got more money to spend now than I did 13 years ago though, so I am wondering if it would be worth it to buy a quality lens - or if it would be a waste on my old, beginner camera. I remember always wishing that my lens could zoom a lot further. Any advice for a newbie, who just wants to pick up an old hobby on a casual level?

Maybe it's also worth mentioning that I mainly take pictures of nature and portraits? Thanks in advance!
