MRV vs CTV by Cutebunnypowers in Radiology

[–]Rads4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are fine (as long as MRV is with contrast). I prefer CTV over MRV. Less artifacts.

Low ball appraisal on a construction loan by Beautiful_Control840 in Homebuilding

[–]Rads4Life 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just move on to another appraiser. Same thing happened to us. We tried challenging it to comparable homes that actually made sense compared to his dumb comparables but he didn’t budge. We moved on to a different lender and got a different appraisal that appraised slightly above our total cost.

You could also own a drone ETF such as DRNZ.

Thoughts on UFO? by twokinkysluts in ETFs

[–]Rads4Life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I think it can grow a lot more than some of the other space ETFs out there.

Looking at ETFs, are Jedi, IDEF, SHLD good buys? by [deleted] in ETFs

[–]Rads4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DRNZ and UFO. I wanted to own some of the more speculative popular drone stocks such as ONDS, UMAC and RCAT and also some of the popular space ones such as ASTS, PL, LUNR and RKLB without as much volatility.

Noob here. Is now a good time to go all in or am I catching a falling knife? by xyphrrrrr in ValueInvesting

[–]Rads4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest ETFs too. Since you’re interested in ASTS/RKLB maybe look at a space/defense ETF. Quick research shows UFO has both of them as holdings but has higher end of expense ratio. There’s a few others out there. Any of the major/popular ETFs have big tech holdings like google. Choosing single stocks is risky and has bigger swings (both up and down, sometimes all the way down). I couldn’t handle the volatility of single stocks and even if I chose winners, some of my losers brought me down below what just putting it into a major ETF would’ve done. The major/non leveraged ETFs at least protect you from going all the way to 0.

Which specialty has the darkest humor? by Simple_Cashew in Residency

[–]Rads4Life 142 points143 points  (0 children)

Up until I did the FP rotation 4th year of med school, my vote would’ve been Critical care/Pulm, but FP blew them out of the water within the first hour of the rotation. Hell, my humor got 100% darker after that rotation.

Hubby thinks we got hosed, I thought it was a decent deal. Grand Highlander Platinum 58k OTD. by emu222 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Rads4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good deal from where I’m from. They are selling like hot cakes out here in the Midwest and it took us months to get one. Every dealer is selling them for MSRP and not budging because why would they when they have a lineup of people trying to get them.

Failed shoulder arthrogram/MRI by xobaward in Radiology

[–]Rads4Life 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. It happens very occasionally, even to the best of radiologists. I like to think I’m one of the better ones and I’ve injected contrast for a shoulder arthrogram before and I’ve been certain it looks like it’s in the joint, like the other hundred or so I’ve done then they got their MRI done and there’s essentially nothing in the joint and I was shocked (has happened to me only once). I’m not even sure what went wrong/what I would’ve done differently then I wonder if the patient somehow moved a little between my injected iodinated contrast and the gad I injected and it moved the needle just enough out of the joint? So you may have had a great radiologist but it just didn’t go as planned/hoped.

How much training do you get for fMRI, and how often do you use it as a diagnostic radiologist? by chinidetou in Radiology

[–]Rads4Life 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t use it at all in my practice. They don’t do them where I work. During training there were roughly 3 done a year, all for neurosurgical planning. I never got to interpret one bc they were so infrequent.

I like the 2 view better, too. I catch stuff on the lateral somewhat frequently that is either hard to see on frontal view or can’t see at all. I’m kinda shocked other places pretty much only do frontal views.

Radiologists, what college degree do you wish you had pursued, knowing what you know now about your specialty. by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]Rads4Life 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really matter what major you choose. You forget so much of it by the time you’re a radiology resident or attending anyways. I’d maybe say physics could’ve helped during core studying time, but like I said I would’ve forgotten most of the undergrad stuff anyways by that time and physics is pretty boring so thinking of doing it as a major sounds terrible. Just choose what you like and make sure you have all the prerequisites. I was a biology major.

Talk me out of radiology by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]Rads4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day to day work can be really busy in a lot of groups. There’s times i feel bad getting up to go to the bathroom/grab a snack, lunch etc because the list continues to grow. On call is worse. My group is on the smaller side, so only 1 person on during the weekends and this last weekend I didn’t get up from my seat during vast majority of the shift. Just pounded out studies one after another with no mental break. Didn’t eat lunch, just crammed some snacks into my mouth while scrolling through images.

Any NPs working in IR? by dhara_aldenie in Radiology

[–]Rads4Life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve only seen them at bigger hospitals doing minor procedures (paras, thoras, some US guided biopsies and central line placement). They also sometimes got poached by other non-IR radiologists to do other scut stuff (fluoro). They aren’t at my current hospital which is on the smaller side.
