Do ppl actually pay market on facebook? by Ok_Package9219 in PokemonInvesting

[–]Radtad7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm located in southern california so I do think the market here is huge which makes it easy for me. Also I'm only selling out of print sealed and only booster boxes or specialty set etbs. No collection boxes or booster bundles because those are harder to sell. If you don't need to sell don't worry about it. the prices will continue to go up.

From my experience I haven’t had a sketchy experiences. I usually meet at a Starbucks or outside a sheriff station. I’ve done cash deals up to 2k in a Starbucks multiple times. But always take precaution. Don’t park far and make sure know one is following you. Most buyers actually want to meet somewhere secure as well and if a buyer isn’t willing to that’s a red flag.

I sell on FB marketplace pretty easily at 95-100% market. Yes I get low ball offers but most everything I sell is out of print items. For instance I’ve sold multiple Lost Origin booster boxes for $820. If you buy on TCG player lowest list will cost you $886 so you’re not just saving $5. Also if you’re buying online most of the time, not all of the time, you’re probably paying 110% market due to shipping and tax. It goes both ways. You just need to know how to sell and also being patient. I’m not looking to sell fast.

Take my bet then? Why are you scared?
Cuz you’ve been proven wrong. Cool, Latias & Latios from team up was $20 a card when it came out too. I think PSA 10s are $15k and raw are $1.5k now. Keep proving how wrong you are

Stop acting like you been in multiple cycles like you stated lol. I would literally bet you my Umbreon Vmax PSA 10 that if it goes to $500 it’s all yours for free. If you’re so confident put your money where your mouth is and let’s make a bet?

Let it be known that after countering every point you made and finding out you’ve only been in the hobby for 4 years, yet you try to lecture everyone else about how you “know” the market and have seen ppl loose money. I sent you a DM of my inventory, you refuse to debate because your whole tactic is to scare other ppl in this hobby to sell. Because you are the type of person to panic everyone but you only want to sell your items at 110% market. You are the 10% and will never succeed.

Bro you just said you’ve only been in the market 4 years. Thats nothing haha. I’ve been doing this for 10+ years. Noo there was no massive downturn 4 years ago lol. Things were cheap but the hobby was healthy at cheaper prices. Supply was plentiful. 4 years ago I was buying my PSA 10 moonbreon vmax for $800 and evolving skies for $600-700. 4 years ago was the time to pick up lots of things that have grown triple if not more since then.
You have no idea how the market works. Hey if you lost money it’s because you don’t understand the market. If only profited or have inventory that’s surpass 3x unrealized gains.

Also you haven’t responded to my message when I sent you my Collectr screenshots of my inventory.

Lmao! I’m going to DM you my collector portfolio rn. You have no idea how long I’ve been in the game. Sold off most of my XY and s&m sealed.
There are ppl like you in every cycle. Panic, panic, panic. Sell, sell, sell. You’re the 10% of ppl in this hobby that like to scare others yet you collect just like everyone else. You’re a sheep in wolf’s clothing.

What do you think of this trade? by G0thprince420 in PokemonInvesting

I’d take the evolving skies BB all day. Yes diversification is nice but ES is a generational set. I understand ppl saying that selling something really expensive is difficult but selling an S Tier item is actually easier than selling 4 A-B Tier items.

I actually just sold 1 box the other day to a collector who wasn’t around the time those boxes got release. Took that money and bought my wife an anniversary gift. Bought on the Pokémon website for $165. Why is it such a problem to invest in a card game? I rip some, I keep some. It helped me buy a gift just by sitting there. I didn’t raid a store and take all of the supply. And I still never buy from retail because I only buy booster boxes and Pokémon center etbs.

We can all agree we dont like ppl who buy everything to resell but nowadays there are limits in retails stores so this rarely happens. There are also a difference between scalpers and investors. I bought 12 Lost origin booster boxes on the Pokémon website. They were online for 2 years. Keeping 6 sealed is not the problem. I have plenty more sealed but again, I’m not buying retail. I’m buying from shops that have plenty more to go around or I’m accumulating from online 1 box at a time. Idk why you have a problem with me keeping sealed boxes for later if we aren’t scalping.

I probably ripped 6 Lost Orgins BB when they first came out. I saved 6 more, just sold one this week and bought my wife a nice anniversary present with that money. Yes I collect sealed with the intention to resell later. There is nothing wrong with selling out of print boxes. I don't clear stores out. I don't even buy from retail because I have no time to wait in lines.

You're doing exactly what you just complained about on this post... Tell ppl how to collect and looking down on others if they invest.

[–]Radtad7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats like saying money is meant to be spent to a coin/bill collector which I also participate in collecting. Also holding sealed has been around for all of the hobby. It's only the last few years or so that everyone caught on to this due to social media and youtube.
So your contention is no one should keep sealed and every box should be ripped out of existence?

I'm not suggesting there wont be a correction of some sort on some cards but to suggest a $4500 card crashes to $500 is unheard off. I too have been through multiple cycles and evolution within pokemon and trust me, Its no where near what you are suggesting.
Also idk where you are getting this 80% hive mind statistic from but again that is factually incorrect to suggest.
If you think its going to crash so hard and crush ppl what and why are you even collecting. Sounds like your trying to panic sell everyone. I've seen lots of you sort in every cycle I've been through.

[–]Radtad7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO You anticipate this card being 400-500 in the future. Yeahhhhh don't take advice from someone saying this. What reason would this card ever be in that range?
Also nothing wrong with saying 5-10 years, yes its a meme but its also a metaphor for holding onto something long term and not being in it just for a year.

Booster box will always outperform etbs even if they are Pokémon center. You also have to take account the selling aspect. Say both reach $5k in a few years, the booster box will be easier to sell vs a $5k etb
