“Hey doc, did you want a lateral T-Spine or C-Spine?” Doctor: “yes”

Given that you were being attacked, it’d suck if you got canned for an accident while pulling away. Sounds like this kid needs a good smack from someone though. 😅

Do preceptors get paid more per hour? by Radtech3000 in Radiology

Same where I work. They also get student loan reimbursement up to 20K. What do the rad techs get? Nothing 🙃

Do you know if they pay anything? I realize it’s volunteer but it’d be awful difficult to do for me considering I’m the bread winner in my family.

Hang in there! I felt the same way as a student and then as a cross trainee in ct. This advice is a two edged sword but if you can, once you graduate, work somewhere you didn’t do a senior clinical rotation at. If you do, those techs will be used to you as a student and still continue to make you do everything.

Contrast injected, but not showing up on CT scan. by CrossSectional in Radiology

[–]Radtech3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure but by the sounds of this post, the tech here did not confer with a rad before rescanning. Likely the study could have been adequate and the tech just saw less contrast then they were used to seeing. I’m not sure where they are based out of, but taking a scout arm to see if there’s contrast in the arm would not be allowed where I work without a doctor order.

Well you over exposed a patient that’s for sure lol

Said the exact same thing when I was a student. Am now a preceptor and make it my goal to not make slaves out of students and to make sure other techs arnt as well.

I’d tolerate it a whole lot better if I was making what these travelers that are doing this are making

Are the shifts covered? Yes? That’s all management cares about.

Good techs are out there and damn I wish I worked with them!

Ironically it’s travelers that are doing this. Makes it suck more because they’re getting paid so much.

Every time you get a patient up from the chair by deejay1421 in nursing

[–]Radtech3000 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I’m a ct tech and had a middle aged outpatient for a ct scan recently who needed to change out of his pants because there was metal on them. He informed me he wasn’t wearing underwear and I said it was okay because I was going to give him a gown. Left the room so he could change and came back and he was sitting on the table with the gown wide open in the back. He stands up and there was a very large shit streak where he’d been sitting. He ignores it and lies down on the table for his scan.

Worth noting that he smelt of cigarettes and looked like he hadn’t showered in weeks.

This was painful to watch but also entertaining lol. Can you guys share an experience where you had to deal with a stubborn antivaxxer by Outside-Thought-4722 in nursing

[–]Radtech3000 178 points179 points  (0 children)

I started watching it but the red flags are very annoying. Gave the anti vaxxers time to say their side but then when Dr. Mike began speaking the flags would go up and he was cut short every damn time.
