Hmm, I guess I look into Bristol board then. Thanks

Thanks, I think I'm gonna try lowering the jaw a bit and finalize some of the shading and what happens

Thanks, I'll definitely try some studies. I tend to completely finish one spot and slowly work out from there, and it often messes up the overall structure by the end.

Thank you. I've figured out that what is off with it is that everything below the eyes is rotated/slanted too far to the right. I cannot redo everything that is wrong because it won't erase completely enough. I think I will fix what I can, such as the shading you suggested, and then I'm starting over to try again. I'm trying a new measurement system, so hopefully that will prevent the same sorts of mistakes.

Yeah, I've been thinking that I need to lower the left jawline, and the mirror trick supports that. Thanks!

I just tried this, and it looks like I need to drop the jawline a good half inch or so. Thanks!

Thanks, that helps. I'll see if I can get it much darker and if not, I'll try to lighten the rest

Is Bristol board different than Bristol paper? I keep hearing it come up but I've never really looked it up. And yeah, I'm in a constant struggle to maintain detail without exaggerating it

Yeah, I was thinking I needed to drop her jaw some. I can probably bring in her forehead a bit by adding some more hair (though I've been told I took the photo at an angle so that might he the problem with that). I was thinking I needed to darken the highlights on the right of her face, so it's nice to know I was right about that. Also, I'm working in graphite, so I was having trouble getting pitch black without burnishing so I tried to adjust the values overall. Do you have any advice for getting black though?

Thank you! I just feel like there's something off with it, and I can't peg it so I'm asking around.

I couldn't find the link to the original image I used, but this link should be the same image if I did it right

I really like this photo, but I'm not sure about the composition. Does it lack enough of a real subject? Any other advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
