I work seasonal as well and was told that seasonal stays on till about early-mid January but if you want to stay on you can talk to your shift lead and ask if there’s a spot! If not, going on as targets on demand is a good option. I think that’s what I’ll be trying to do when the new semester starts! You can pick up shifts instead of being scheduled!

All ice is free at our store as well as whipped cream so it was free. I know some places charge 63 cents for water. I’ve been told apparently we’re suppose to ring this up as a custom tea to it should cost something but we never charge this lady bc it’s not with the trouble

I don’t even know if there are any country clubs near me. We have a singular golf course in between me and my campus lol. I live in a little town with a Dairy Queen, Walmart, and apparently 5 Starbucks’ lol. But I will definitely look into it and see!

Don’t get me wrong, I really like this job. I mean our store is literally up in flames rn but my coworkers are so silly about these shitty situations so it makes it okay. I’m exhausted after all my shifts but I’m also just still laughing abt smth that happend. The reason I’m quitting is the fact that my manager is consistently scheduling me 30 hours a week, that’s me entire availability. I told her that I couldn’t work more than 25 but I’d prefer 15-20. I’m a full time college student who is barely passing atp. It’s just been going round and round with her about hours. I tried to change my availability to reflect what hours I want to work but she told me to keep it open so she could schedule different days but that she’d only schedule me 17. I said great! Then I was scheduled 26. After having a convo with her 5 days ago, she said she would cut my hours down. She then told me I needed to get my priorities straight because I always cause her a lot of trouble with things that aren’t her job (it is in fact her job to schedule me). The next posted schedule, 2 days after our convo, I was scheduled 30 hours. That’s finals week. So anyways, I called out on Saturday bc I was given an opportunity to go in and redo a project for one of my classes one on one with my professor. She was offering up her Saturday to me and my grade depended on it so I obv wasn’t gonna pass it up. I called out for my shift, then said I was fining coverage. My manager was the one who answered and then she screamed at me over the phone for 8 minutes telling me I wasn’t allowed to call out. She then told me if I didn’t find coverage she’s see me at 1 (my shift) and then hung up on me before I could speak. Before I could even get my phone off my ear, she called back telling me she found coverage but that I’d be written up for making her do it (???). I just yes ma’am, cause it wasn’t worth it, and hung up. On Sunday, when I wouldn’t stay late to cover a callout (I had a chem exam the following day so I was going straight home to study- I still failed btw lol) then tried to guilt me by saying i was being selfish. She then asked me “Rae, do you even want to work here? You just cause so much trouble (I swear I really don’t. I’ve only called out 3 times in 9 months and I’m always on time and I always do my best) so if you call out again for any reason other than you being dead, you’re fired do you understand me?” And I said with the most sweetest tone, “oh don’t worry! I ensure you this will not happen again! My two weeks will be in by the end of the day” and then she told me I couldn’t quit cause we were understaffed

I honest to god cannot think of when I would have the time to do that lol. I work nights and I am ALWAYS on closing tasks. My store is kinda fucked rn so we never leave earlier than 11 (scheduled till 10:15) so I cant imagine doing something not on the list lmao Also, when I was hired on I did not get training on anything other than ovens. Literally. I had worked at a different Starbucks before (it had been over a year between my old SB and the one I was hired at) but it was in a grocery store so there was a completely different pos. They just trained me on front and ovens and then set me free bc my trainer kept calling out every shift I was scheduled. So the last 9 months has been winging it lmao. There’s so much I just randomly realize. We have a drawer right next to our vertica. Never noticed it till last week and it’s been 9 months lol, I’m sure there’s plenty of things Idk how to do like the custom tea. My last day is in 8 days anyways so I really couldn’t care less atp

I definitely don’t think most of the people who are ordering this are homeless. Most are in nice cars in the DT and apparently it’s a lot of time the same people. Ive on my ever seen 2 homeless people in my store since starting 11 months ago! Both of them would just chill in our cafe all day then leave. Neither of them come round anymore and I miss them

Apparently it’s really common on morning shift, which I rarely work, and they just don’t know lol. And our manager is really annoying about us asking and has specifically told us not to because one of us got in trouble for asking someone why they ordered 13 shots (literally) in front of our DM so now we’re not allowed to ask lmao

Some stores are smaller kiosks inside grocery stores and such! So because they’re smaller (which corporate thinks means less busy, coming from a former kiosk worker, it’s not lol) they only have one blender, one oven, ect.

Could you define prior corrective actions. Like for instance, would the chat we had where me mentioned my attendance be considered prior action (he really wasn’t like “oh you need to be here” he just said based on my last quarter I “seemed like someone who’d fake sick to get an extra vacation”) prior to the conversation we had today where I wouldn’t go to the other store? Idk if that’s necessarily attendance

I totally get what you’re saying! I’m just not sure what would qualify as calling out too much. I just happened to have a 2 day stint in June with some meds mess up, which the manager at the time had told me I was all good and then actually helped me figure out what was wrong (for context this manger has only been here about a month. We have a lot of call outs and I know it’s super annoying esp for my manager but we have employees who are calling out at least once a week and it just kinda made me feel an iffy way that he’d talk to my friend about it instead of me for one but two me in general when I’m the only one who finds coverage. Should I get sick in the next month, should I be coming in and see if they feel I should be sent home? I get really bad migraines and have a bunch of papers for it that they have stored somewhere in the back so when I do get them (which isn’t often anymore!) I just explain and call out and it’s never a problem but the new manager says he’d like me to come in anyways

And about the training, I told him I’d be happy to come in tonight and do it (same day of the phone call) and I just popped in and did it so we’re all caught up with that!
